"Our stay at the Golden Fleece was great! Easy check-in, lovely room. Food in the evening was great but we didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Easy walkable distance to James Herriot’s house. Parking very easy and felt secure! All in all very nice."

We had the sandwich and chips option but will have to go back for the Sunday lunch - it looked great and was obviously popular with regulars. "We loved the hotel, very regal looking! Staff werw friendly. Clean and spacious. If i had to guve a negative it would be only one lift which was extremely slow and on a personal note, the bed was extremely hard. We both woke up with sore hips! Again that doesnt mean everyone will find the bed too hard. The bedding and bedroom were beautiful and clean. All in all would definitely recommend and would come again. "

"A true gem of a hotel in York. Easily walkable to centre. Hotel and rooms spotlessly clean. Tasty, hot breakfast with plenty choice. Comfortable rooms but a little too hot. Good parking area at rear of hotel. Staff very pleasant and could not be more helpful. Special shout out to Gemma and Stuart who were both excellent. Would definitely stay here again. 5 stars all round. "
