Leonardo Hotel Galway

"The location of the hotel just outside of the Latin Quarter and on the river was outstanding. Overall, very nice hotel. Our only complaint was no working air conditioning and it was quite warm during our 2 day stay. Room was hot and uncomfortable. We talked to the hotel staff and they told us a local transformer had sustained damage, thus no working air conditioning. I did not challenge, but all other electrical in the hotel was operating just fine. I talked to another couple staying at the hotel and they also did not have working air conditioning. I am speculating the hotel management made a decision to turn off air conditioning given typical temps that would be expected in the Galway area during this time of year. I wish they would have simply stated this assuming this is the case. They did provide a fan and provided us with a complimentary breakfast for one of our 2 mornings at the hotel without us requesting, which was nice. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again, and would hope for working air conditioning. We stayed at several hotels during time in Ireland (across the country) and all had working A/C except the Leonardo Galway."

"It’s right in the middle of the action on Quay Street. Earplugs are provided. But a $15 white noise machine blocked out all the noise. The front desk staff is the most helpful I’ve ever encountered."

"The hotel is in a perfect part of Galway to get around. And it’s actually very quiet around the hotel. I liked the hotel a lot. But here are a few things to consider: Within the hotel the walls are paper thin. The doors are heavy and slam shut. You can hear people in the next room talking and banging things around. There is no ac, which is okay because you can open the window but there is little airflow once you close the window. And it gets hot. I was better after I asked for a second fan. The bed was okay. A bit hard perhaps. But because you can’t separate the sheet from the comforter, it was hot sleeping. Very hot sleeping. I did like the hotel. And it was safe. The staff was good. Lots of choices for breakfast if you eat meat. If you are a vegetarian, go elsewhere for breakfast and dinner if you want something healthy. There are lots of places to eat and grab coffee around the hotel. I did have dinner once at the restaurant and I asked to add a tip and the person doubled the tip I put on there which I didn’t catch until later. But the staff for breakfast was excellent and the front desk staff were also wonderful."

"We found the hotel clean, modern and well laid out. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful without exception. Our room was comfortable and served our purposes perfectly. The restaurants were so good we only ate in the hotel and didn't feel the need to eat elsewhere. Very happy customer S."

"We had a great stay at the G. The hotel is just outside of the city center, close enough to walk, easy enough to grab a car and be there in a few minutes. There is a small shopping center directly behind the hotel if you need anything. The staff is incredibly helpful with anything you need or just to have a chat. The lounge and restaurant are beautifully appointed with nice views of lake. The food is some of the best food we ate in London and Ireland. The rooms are spacious and clean and have great space to hang your clothes and put everything away so you feel at home. We would highly recommend staying at the G while in Galway!"
