"The central place to stay in Basel. Right next to the central train station. Staff is very helpful and professional. It was not a problem at all to switch to a room with separate beds on short notice. Only stayed one night with an early departure by S-Bahn."

GAIA Hotel Basel - the sustainable hotel

"We recently spent 9 days traveling through The Netherlands, France and Switzerland and stayed in 4 hotels. The Gaia was the best by far and if we ever return to Basel we would absolutely choose The Gaia again. I am sorry that I cannot remember the name of the man who seemed to always be at the front desk when we needed something. He was so kind, professional and helpful. He provided excellent recommendations for restaurants, offered suggestions for what to do in the city, checked for our train platform when we left, and just went above and beyond without being intrusive. The property was outstanding. We had a room with a king bed and sitting area which was spotless, beautiful, comfortable, cool and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and staff delivered coffee orders to the table. The location is right across from the train station which we preferred for easy access to trains and turned out to be very convenient for walking the old city as well. Well done!"

"Feels like a small independent hotel but that’s a good thing. Rooms and beds are comfortable. It can be a bit noisy if you need the windows open which you might as there’s no AC. Staff are all lovely and the food is great"

"Hotel was clean, close to shops and restaurants, and the staff was very helpful, especially Alex. The breakfast had a great selection of cold items and even scrambled eggs for our friend. We’re happy to be returning for another two nights prior to our Viking Cruise."
