"We loved the staff and hospitality at Momijiya. My husband said it felt like we were staying at our grandma's house. We loved the ryokan experience as well. We really felt we were getting a more intimate Japanese experience. The food really put us Americans out of our comfort zone, but we wouldn't have wanted it any other way. "Very charming Ryokan, and a fantastic experience from a cultural point of view. The meals are served in very specific times, and there's a lot of food being served, so you need to be prepared to eat a quantity of food. Everything is very well prepared, and the staff is very friendly and respectful!"

"This would probably be the only property that I would not do a repeat visit going back to Japan. The property itself is not the most convenient to get to, even being near'ish Kyoto Station. It's about a 10 minute walk in any direction to get to any of the trains. That said, that wasn't the worst part. The unit itself was interesting. The tatami floors though were scuffed and dirty.
