"The property was ok, but across the street from a park where transients sleep. The bed was very hard , not comfortable ant all, and we were initially placed in a room next to a door that opened and closed very heavily throughout the night. We requested a new room for the second night, it was a huge improvement. No noise at all or doors slamming. The staff was very understanding and accommodating. The continental breakfast was nice and coffee machine was fantastic! It made lattes, cappuccino, espresso, with a frother. A very nice treat! "

"We know that they don’t offer room cleaning daily except upon request. So we requested the service and to get more towels. I even spoke to the housekeeper in Spanish to avoid any confusion, but neither of our rooms was cleaned. There are no phones in the rooms so the only way to communicate is to physically go down to the lobby, send a text, or call. There is only one elevator and it literally takes 5 minutes to arrive on any floor, so we don’t go in person. We chose to call but the recording specifically states that guest services must be submitted through their text service. So I sent a text! No response for several hours. Then when they replied they stated that a team member was supposed to have reached out to us….but the didn’t. I sent another text. No response again. When we checked out I asked to speak to the manager who was supposed to have arrived at 8 (according to their text). But that person was not available until noon. They were supposed to call us when they arrived but here we are another day and no response! We do not know what has happened because we have stayed here several times in the past and they have been great. It’s been a couple of years but now the service was subpar this time around, with little to no response or concern. "

"Stayed at Hotel Santa Barbara on March 8, 2026 and had a very concerning experience. We checked in around 9:30 PM under the reservation name Vanessa Gonzalez and were assigned Room 415. The air conditioning in the room wasn’t working, so around midnight the hotel moved us to Room 315. During the transfer, individuals described by the hotel as “third-party security” were allowed into our room to inspect the AC and were then permitted to help move our luggage. Shortly after the move, I discovered that my Movado watch (valued roughly $2,500–$4,000) was missing. There is a camera directly outside Room 415 and the hotel has key-card access logs that should show who entered the room. Instead of helping resolve the situation, front desk staff Alex Smith and Dylan Dupont were rude, dismissive, and escalated the situation by calling the police even though we were calm and simply trying to report the missing item. Police responded and a report was filed, which made the situation unnecessarily embarrassing. The interaction also included comments referencing my being Hispanic, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. I hope management reviews the hallway cameras and access logs from that night. Guests should feel safe leaving their belongings in their room. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience here."

"Great location. Friendly staff. Nice room, but it felt 'cold' and sterile with the laminate flooring. If you just need an overnight room this is your property. If looking for a cozier room - may want to find another. Breakfast was so-so, wasn't a 'fan' of the offerings - mostly breads, cereal, and fake eggs. Nice outdoor offerings with seating and 2 fire pits. Didn't get to partake of the wine tastings as we were there on the wrong days for the offering. "

"The pool area and breakfast area were fine. The issue was getting are reservation changed without our knowledge. Upon arriving we were told we were "upgraded" to a King suite. What a joke! The room was large and awkward. The bed was a full size murphy bed. It was not even a queen size. We booked and paid for a room with 2 queens. It is too bad. The hotel seemed nice and clean but the "downgrade" ruined it. We travel to UCSB a couple times a month and were hoping to find a place to stay regularly. Unfortunately it will not be at the Best Western."
