This Bavarian-inspired village nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains charms visitors with cobblestone streets and Alpine architecture. Tube down the Chattahoochee River in summer or explore nearby Anna Ruby Falls when the surrounding forests burst with autumn colors.
We came for New Year's Eve with a child. There was lots to do even on the holiday and it was very family friendly. There were adult parties also but we did not go to those. She loves the roller coaster, all the shops, and the fun environment.

We loved the mini golf course in Helen, Scoop de Scoop ice cream, Hansel and Gretal chocolate, and Muller's Fried Cheese Cafe. Try the cheese kabob on the appetizer menu. It's a meal in itself. Trust me, it's a winner.

For a weekend it wasn't too much noise or partying and boozing going on. About 9-10pm it winds down and most shops close ,and it then it becomes a cozy, quiet, picturesque Alpine village all lit up serene and pretty.

If you like shopping in a tourist-oriented atmosphere this is the place. We did thoroughly enjoy the oil and vinegar tasting on the main street.

Helen is a lovely German Swiss town tucked in the mountains of north Georgia. Cute area. We went to the Yonha Mountain vineyard, Dukes river falls & Dicks creek. Bodensee delicious authentic German food. Hofbrau Haus had a guitarist and German beers

We came for the town, but what turned out to be the best part of our experience was Anna Ruby Falls. Go! Watch a video of how Helen came to be at the Helen Arts and Heritage. Disappointed in the "authentic" food at Hofbrauhaus. That's not schnitzel.
"This cabin is rustic yet modern. We loved that it was secluded yet close enough to town to make quick trips (you could walk if you wanted to). It was easy once we arrived as all of the access information and detailed map instruction was text to us before we arrived. It was spotless which immediately put us at ease as we were travelling with a 1 yr. old (if you have one, you know how much they love to pick up anything they see and go straight to their mouth with it). The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking/eating utensils. The linens/towels were clean and fresh and each bathroom had a "welcome" bag of toiletries which is nice as I always tend to forget something. The beds and furniture are comfortable to the point of dozing off on them a time or two. The front porch hangs slightly over the river so we had a 'blast' shooting water guns at tubers (per their request of course). The kids loved playing in the water. The river, at rhe time, was at the perfect level to sit down in and cool off and not have to worry about it being too deep for the kids. We were planning on doing the tubing trip but had more fun staying at the cabin and interacting with the 'tubers'. There is a fire pit right next to the river if you want to stay outside and a grill (and hot tub) on the deck. I will definitely re-book this place."
"Clean and comfortable. Super close to tubing and festhall. Firm comfortable bed. Breakfast service area was poorly designed and the layout and flow causes lots of crowding at peak breakfast hours. "
"This place was perfect! Convenient to everything in Helen. You will not be disappointed. I could write a book about how much I loved this hotel for the value. It had great pricing and it was by far the best hotel my son and I stayed in all summer. He visits me every summer, and this summer we stayed in over 6 hotels/motels, this being the last. Helen is the perfect spot for a 2 day to 5 day vacation. There is so much to do in all age ranges. Book this one! There are plenty of other options, but this location and hotel quality and amenities are a win."
"Nice easy stay was very clean and quiet. They also had a decent free breakfast. Friendly staff and willing to help with suggestions on where to go and even provided us with push sticks for the river tubing. "
"Only thing I did not like and why I cant return is the daily pet fee of $25.00. Too much charging daily for small teacup breed. Should have size consideration or one time fee."
