"The Hurtwood Hotel is run like a B&B only. The bedroom, room 10 was good, the bathroom not so. Broken taps,cracked tiles and most of all black mould around bath which was quite thick. A good bleach and revamp is needed badly. Hardly any staff around you need to find one usually in the bar area. No room housekeeping unless it's requested which we did and it still wasn't cleaned, so after a day out we came back to wet towels, dirty cups etc, so had to find one of the elusive staff to get it sorted, which they did. Breakfast is ok but be warned tinned mushrooms! And no atmosphere at all in a chilly room. I think if you are a cyclist, or a serious hiker it might suit you. Not a cheap hotel and not a hotel experience."

"The bed in our room was very comfortable and the room and bathroom had everything we needed for a nights stay. We had breakfast and was disappointed with the quality for the price - the poached eggs were hard and instead of the sourdough it stated on the menu, it came with cheap white bread. This was rectified, however we had to (obviously) wait for our breakfast to be re cooked and our family (who had ordered something different) had finished their breakfast by the time ours arrived. They did take our drinks off the bill, but for £14 each we feel it should have been right the first time. "

"The manor house and estate was spectacular. We were a little disappointed in that we booked to stay in this wonderful manor, but upon arrival we were told that our room was located in a small house on the property about 400yards from the manor house by the entrance gate. It was referred to at the "lodge" Reception staff were efficient, but not exactly friendly. The breakfast was exceptional."
