"The staff at the Hotel Abbazia went above and beyond for us. (Shout out to Mirko, Matteo, and Raffaele!) We had an early flight out of Venezia and they saved us from paying 150 Euro for a water taxi; instead, they coordinated a porter for us so we could walk over the bridge and take the bus to the airport. We were going to miss breakfast, so they packed us generous to-go bags so we had something to eat. We really appreciated the kindness of the staff!
The hotel itself is a little bit of dated elegance, but for me, that's what Venezia is. It's absolutely perfect for its location. Our room was very clean and nice with comfortable beds and a quality A/C (which was needed because it was HOT outside!). The bathroom is completely updated with a fantastic high-pressure shower (better than my one in the US, which is hard to find sometimes in Europe, in my experience). The wifi at times could be a little spotty but we were in the farthest room from the entrance, and the building is really solidly constructed.
Overall, a great experience at a reasonable price, and in a good location. We were a 5 minute walk from the train station, a 2 minute walk from water taxis and water buses, and a 7 minute walk from the bus and car taxis."
