Hitachi Central Research Laboratory was established in 1942 by Namihei Odaira, founder of Hitachi. He gave specific instructions to avoid cutting the trees when building on the 207,000 sqm property. They currently open the gardens to the public twice a year (Apr/Nov).

"Avoid this property at all costs! It was a nightmare, owner couldn’t be contacted for hours (tried to call him and no one picked up the phone) and only after we got a hold of him, he informed us that the place was double booked. We were travelling with 2 young kids and waited nearly 2 hours in front of this property. It was 9 pm and we had to scramble to find a place to stay. The owner offered another location which was in Shinjuku, which is on the opposite of the city. This was a terrible...

"This was our second time staying at this property. Masa-san and his wife are incredibly kind, generous hosts. We love the neighborhood - so close to the Asakusa subway for easy access. Peaceful neighborhood that also has great energy. We will stay here again and again!"

"A great location and house-we loved the shops and restaurants near the house as well as being close to the train and subway lines. If you want a quiet, local feel house, this is the place. "We were a large group of 8 people. This is a small two story, narrow place with a third lower height attic/loft. The place was fairly clean but the first night we heard a critter in the walls, probably a mouse or rat. We heard it is common in older houses to have that issue but it did throw us off. There are no separate rooms or doors to close. It’s basically dormitory style. It was fine for what we needed but wouldn’t be our preference and we will not be staying here again."
