"Absolutely delightful hotel. Me and a friend booked a room each for the Hay Festival, and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The staff were wonderful; helpful, friendly, even showed us to our rooms. The location was great, not too far away but far enough that I’d was quiet and tranquil. The breakfast is well worth the money, as is the Old Barn pub across the road, where we ate that night. A fantastic stay, I can’t wait to return with my husband next time."

"I was going to visit the Brecon Mountain Railway and I needed somewhere close by to stay for the night. Luckily, I chose the Butchers Arms. The room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable. The food was filling and tasty and I had breakfast looking across to the start of the Brecon Beacons. The beer was wonderful especially the Butty Bach (little friend in Welsh). "

"We spent a lovely night at the B and B. Everything was perfect and they even left a G and T and beer in the fridge for us to enjoy and fresh milk in a jug. "This is a fabulous hotel in a beautiful building designed before WW1 by Clough Williams-Ellis, who also designed Portmeirion. Perfect for anyone who loves the grandeur of an Edwardian country house hotel set in gently rolling hills. The rooms are beautiful - try and get one in the original house rather than the extension - and the public rooms are large and elegant, filled with antiques and fine paintings. The staff were lovely and friendly, too. The only downside was that the food could have been better, but maybe I just made poor decisions! This hotel is without doubt a haven of peace!"
