"The property itself was fine. The rooms were clean and the overall quality of stay was ok.The staff was courteous enough but everyone seemed to be walking on eggshells. As soon as you walked up to the front of the hotel you’re greeted by a designated smoking area. The smell was overwhelming enough to trigger anyone who is allergic to smoke. The smell carried over into the Lobby area and creates a negative environment and impression for the hotel. This area was being used by staff and guest as well. We left the hotel each day so we didn’t have to be around to get overwhelmed with the smell but coming and going was brutal. I support an individuals rights to smoke but surely they can come up with a compromise that works for the entire hotel community. The hotel is listed as a smoke free place but it is far from being that. A healthy solution would be to create a designated smoking area that does not require others to breathe in the second hand smoke. "

"I stayed at the Walnut Creek Marriott for two nights and barely slept at all. The walls are unbelievably thin. You can hear everything. Normal conversation from the room next door sounded like it was happening inside our room. Unfortunately, our neighbors were loud, intoxicated, and awake most of the night. We could hear them talking continuously, opening food, playing music, and generally carrying on well into the early morning hours. Even after they finally fell asleep, they left music playing all night. This wasn’t just a noise issue with other guests, it felt like the hotel has no soundproofing whatsoever. A hotel stay should at least allow for rest, and that simply wasn’t possible here. If you’re a light sleeper or value a quiet room, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere. I won’t be returning and would not recommend this hotel to anyone hoping to get a good night’s sleep. "

"When we rolled up to the hotel in the evening, my 20-year-old daughter was afraid to get out of the car. There was a burned out car In front of the hotel, and trash strewn, all about. They charged me a $100 deposit for the room. They did not return it to me when I checked out. I still have not received the money back in my account. I would say that this hotel is one step above.The type that rents rooms by the hour. I was supposed to be totally in a non-smoking room. It definitely was not a non-smoking room. The front desk staff was nice, but when I walk down the hall to use the vending machine to buy a small bottle of water that was almost $3. And the machine ate my money. I went downstairs to talk to the person at the front desk. They did not offer to give me my money back. They did not do anything but point across the lobby to another vending machine, which cost almost four dollars for a small bottle of water. So I ended up spending almost seven dollars for a small bottle of water. There was black mold in the ceiling of the shower in room 504. My sinuses are still congested and lungs are still coughing from being in a smoker's room. I hope I do not get aspergellosis of the lung. At one point during the weekend, we went in the elevator to go up to our room and there was literally a partially eaten whole tomato in the corner of the elevator. I must say that we traveled in the same elevator shortly thereafter, and the staff must have removed the partially eaten tomato really?"
