Checking in was difficult due to an incorrect code but we had assistance from other residents which helped enormously. Also there’s no wriggle room with code as we established it would not open even 5 minutes before check in time, despite being ready. "The hotel is ideally located to enjoy the best of Buxton. It is beautifully decorated, with a real sense of luxury. Our room was spotless and the bed very comfy. Staff were helpful and polite. My only disappointment was the breakfast service and in all truth this was completely unacceptable. It was apparent that the kitchen and service was heavily understaffed, which impacted upon the cleanliness, insufficient stocks on the buffet service and delays serving food. Most people had a 45min delay for hot breakfast, and this resulted in us and a number of other guests requesting refunds. The serving staff were very apologetic and just looked worn out and embarrassed."

"I think the value for money was excellent. The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. The only complaint with the room was the lighting being too dark, albeit a very modern lighting setup. However, I have to state as someone allergic to Gluten, the hotel and restaurant have absolutely ZERO ability to deal with this and therefore neither dinner nor breakfast was an option."
