"This is not a plush hotel and there were a few mistakes on arrival, which I put down to one of the receptionists. His manner was quite abrupt and condescending when I questioned the €150 dollar retainer incase I "trashed" the room or smoked inside. I used a debit card and the money appeared to come out of my account straight away, so I felt panicked. What I didnt know was that if you use a credit card, the money shows as a temporary charge, which the hotel simply reverses when you leave. What I didn't like was his tone and he rudely asked me if I had ever stayed in a hotel before. In hindsight I should have replied yes, and that I was used to meeting warm, welcoming receptionists. But I didnt. I just wanted to sleep. After giving me my key, I found it wouldn't open the door. On a positive note, I met a charming lady who opened the door from inside HER room. Back into the lift for a chat with my favourite receptionist. Now for the good. My upgraded room had TWO crisp, clean sheeted Queen beds, a lovely big bathroom and pretty much everything I needed. It was VERY clean and the bed was VERY comfortable. The shower was great too with a nice water pressure and temperature control. I had emailed ahead to ask for a room with a nice view if possible. I didn't get a reply to that question and there is no Manhattan View on any floor but the top. I would still stay again for the cleanliness, comfy beds, and handiness of the train/subway into NY city."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Hilton Midtown! Staff is friendly, hotel is clean, our room was the urban queen which was a good size room. We stayed on the 30th floor. Cleaning staff were very sweet and always smiling. We had read reviews about the elevators being under maintenance and people waiting for at least 1/2 hour. That was definitely not the case with us. The most we ever waited for an elevator was 2 minutes and the hotel was busy with a large conference going on. Herb n’ Kitchen is a cute little grab and go. Good coffee and breakfast items. Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend. Hotel is a short walk to Central Park, 5th Avenue and Times Square. We loved the location and ease of getting to places easily and faster than jumping in a taxi."
