"The room was very clean, but that was it, they don’t come back after you arrive. The breakfast was very good. The air conditioning system was great. The pool is very quaint and cute, we took a dip in it, very clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Over a great place, close to everything, walking distance to anywhere downtown, the union train station was walking distance as well."

"The room was clean but outdated. Cleanliness matters most, however. Because the room had a definite slant to it. Was uneven enough that one of the drawers kept falling open. Staff was friendly but not terribly knowledgeable about area restaurants etc. We figured it all out by asking around. The hotel was close to many different places that we enjoyed."

"Wonderful place to stay, and great breakfast, overall pretty quiet at night also. Honestly would have given a 5 star but the person that checked us in made me feel like I was bothering her, asking about the parking wasn't helpful or inform me about small discount booking thru them until I asked. Otherwise any other staff we had contact with were very friendly."

"The bad reviews seem hugely overblown to me. This is an older building, but my room was sparkling clean and the staff were so kind and helpful. Most of the wear I saw was in the common hallways (the carpet there is long gone). It's turning into a Marriott, which made me kind of sad--I stayed in a lot of the cheap hotels outside ORD this trip, and this is far and away the best one. Want to single out Shirley, the van driver, who is so kind and helpful. The food nearby is also plentiful and really good; there's a grocery store around the corner, and an excellent Chinese restaurant."
