"Very welcoming and the treats that were brought to our room when we first arrived, were a lovely surprise. Location is ideal, close to town and the harbour; all walkable. Excellent choice of food at the bar and the formal restaurant. Amazing cocktails too! Would definitely stay again"

"Hotel had unique charm. Room was spacious and beautiful. Breakfast was included and nice selection of items. Parking is very limited and involves a lift to a small underground parking garage. Staff was very accommodating but we found easier to park on the street and pay the parking meter (few dollars), Great location to bars, restaurants, mall and botanical gardens all within walking distance. Would definitely recommend."

"A little disappointed with the hotel. Not sure about it's four star rating. The lobby looks spectacular but doesn't hold up to closer inspection. The leather in the armchairs is splitting and needs replacing, and the chairs in the bar are dirty at the top where people handle them. In my room there was a lot of scuffing to the furniture and the fridge needed a good clean in the trays on the door. I reported a curtain partially off it's rail three times and it wasn't fixed. The rooms overall are somewhat dated and plain. The hotel exterior is wearing as well. The coating on the fascia above the lobby is peeling off. Overall the hotel needs a bit of love and money invested in maintainance. I can't fault the staff. Friendly and helpful at all times. And the cleanliness was generally very good apart from that fridge door. The location is a bit out of the centre but it's not too bad. There's a supermarket opposite if you fancy stocking up on packed lunches for trail walking at reasonable, not tourist, prices. My trip was marred by unusually poor weather for the tine of year, but still found plenty to do. Do have a plan b when you come. The Atlantic is it's own boss."

"The hotel is in a great location for exploring Ponta Delgada. We were very comfortable in our room with the added luxury of a small terrace with climbing vines for reading and sitting in the sun. The breakfast was wonderful which included many options, all delicious. The restaurant and cafe were great also. The grotto pool and sauna were a nice option after hiking and a well designed experience for relaxation. The hotel serves as an art gallery and we enjoyed learning about local artists. The staff were great! Thank you Nine Dots Hotel for a memorable experience. Catherine and Marco"

"We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Garden Azores. This hotel is a conference centre style hotel, so during the day the 1st level can get busy and noisy. Our personal room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was decent with lots of standard choices for the island area, seemed under staffed at times as finding a clean ready table was a chore. We were informed that a bathing cap was needed to be purchased (3 euro charge), to be able to use the swimmimg pool onsite, but we experienced several people using the pool without one. The hotel garden, as of our stay, was not yet maintenaned and part of the hotel was still under renovation. Our room was renovated, but the craftmenship was spotty, especially for the nice finishes."
