A Romantic Flat in an Historical Building

Lupa Flat is a luxury and typical apartment located in Via della Lupa (can accomodate a maximum of 4 people), few minutes away from the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona. The recently renewed apartment is on the ground floor of a noble building dating back to 1760, and has been created by the Marquis Giambattista Collicola Monthioni, a great appreciator of the fine arts, Governor of Spoleto and Major Messenger of the Holy Apostolic Palaces.

In the backyard you can find an old fountain, built by the famous architect Bernini. It’s made up of a living room with sofa bed and dining corner, a double bedroom with decorated ceilings, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower. It is provided with Internet connection and wireless connection, Tv, Hi-Fi Radio. The “Cotto” flooring, the vaulted ceiling, a both modern and antique furniture of great quality and valuable tapestry together with the ideal location make this elegant apartment one of a kind.

Quaint

This place is a great location. Easy to walk to wherever you want to go/see. The room was humid and warm. The night air helped but it was the same the next day. No A/c and several of the fans didn’t work. There was enough fans there to find one that worked. If you are tall you will find yourself sucking a lot. Marco was an excellent host for us.

Haven in the heart of Rome

Nestled in a narrow lane, a few steps from the green banks of the Tevere and the Augustus mausoleum and a few blocks from Piazza di Spagna and the Pantheon, this apartment is a cosy and quiet place to rest after your tours in the historical district. On your way, you will be able to buy everything you need for a relaxing happy hour or supper at the nearby Carrefour Express including antipasti and wine. Also a butcher shop offers tasty meat (via Asconia corner Prefetti) while his uncle sells poultry and fresh eggs on the other side of the street. We stayed in the apartment for 9 nights and enjoyed every bit of it. We appreciated the security, the access (no stairs at all), quietness and location with several usefull bus lines nearby. Thanks to Sergio, Nicola and Gabrielle for their warm welcome.

Excellent location

The location is excellent and close to many important historical sites, restaurants, shops. Walking distance to so many important sites, safe, and clean neighborhood. The manager is excellent and the staff responded without delay to my questions. Includes a queen size bed, and double sofa bed. Dinning table sits 5/6. Small but nice refrigerator and appropriate little kitchen for breakfast and very simple “cooking “. Clean towels and sheets provided. Small washing machine also very handy. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Great retreat in Rome!

We'd give the Lupa flat six stars for location. We were able to walk to everything and only needed a taxi on arrival and departure. Sergio and Nicole were very helpful. The kitchen is pretty tiny and limited for cooking at home, but there are so many great places to eat nearby, it wasn't a problem for us. I'd recommend the taxi on arrival as the street and apartment door are difficult to find the first time, especially in the dark. We would be very happy to stay there again.

Perfect location and accommodation

This flat was exactly as pictured and provided the perfect location and accommodation for a stay in Roma. Everything is within walking distance. We explored all areas of the city and never considered anything but walking. Valentino was responsive when necessary. At first the apartment may seem a little small, but in actuality has everything you need to be comfortable! We couldn't believe how great the location was and would stay here again with no hesitation. If you are debating whether to stay here, just do it! You won't be sorry.

When In Rome Do as the Romans Do!

The best thing about this property is the location! You can walk to many of the essential sites, restaurants, (there is a neighborhood small grocery store just down the street to the Piazza Borghese, called the "Pam" store. It has most everything you need for items that you need to prepare yourself simpler meals in the kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you dont want to go out every time you need to eat! The kitchen is small, but still efficient enough... Americans have to learn how to deal with smaller living spaces and kitchen spaces when in Europe, unless you want to spend a lot of money.... We were able to prepare simple meals when we did not feel like going out for a meal. I am a 6 foot tall man. The entrance to the bedroom is about 5 feet high, but I managed just fine not to bump my head. the ceilings are high, otherwise I would have felt claustrophobic because all rooms are small but sufficient! The Wifi works but the signal is not strong enough in the living room/ dining room area. So, you have to walk back into the bedroom with your device where the signal source modem is located and the signal becomes strong enough. Then you can take your device back into the living room and it will work for a while before you have to take your device back into the bedroom again..It is situations like this that seem frustrating at the time, but one has to get used to in order to accomplish what you are trying to do. The Staff here was very responsive and helpful

Be sure to triple check your booking!

When I made this booking almost a year ago, I asked if the flat was accessible by wheelchair. I was told it was on the bottom floor and it was no problem. I contacted the "manager" of the flat 2 months prior to my visit again reminding them of the wheelchair. When my driver delivered me to the address, the door was blocked by garbage bins and could not open wide enough to get into the building. So at the last minute I had to pay an additional fee to the driver to take me somewhere else...and stay somewhere that cost me more than double what I had anticipated I would pay. The only thing this manager offered to do was to give me my money back....well, no duh of course I'm getting my money back..::but what about the bank fees to pay from America to Italy, the extra cost for my driver, the extra cost to stay in a hotel and the $30 a day I had to pay to get transportation from my out of the way hotel to see the Roman sites? I was offered nothing! Which in my eyes makes this owner a BAD person to rent from!

Home Away from Home

I stayed at the Lupa Flat for 31 days while I was doing a study abroad program in Rome. I'm a non-traditional student so I wasn't interested in student housing. This was my first trip to Europe so everything was new and different. I was greeted by Daniela who was warm and welcoming. She helped me with all my questions. Let me warn you, if you've never been to Rome, nothing is as it seems it should be........it's part of the charm. Go out and get lost, trust me you will. The apartment manager Nicola was outstanding. She was so kind and very responsive. I must say, she really went above and beyond. Thank you Nicola! The apartment owners were also very helpful and gracious. Take advantage of some of the "add on" services they offer. I used the airport shuttle roundtrip and it was well worth it. You are moments from the Spanish Steps, Pasquale's for pizza, a great coffee shop, Via Tomacelli, Via Della Scrofa and Via Del Corso are also very close by. The bus stop and taxi stand is literally 6 blocks away (only take white taxi's; the others are a scam). You also have 2 of the best gelato places very close to you Gelatini and Grom. I prefer Grom but to each their own:) The apartment is the perfect home base. The kitchen has everything you need to make a quick meal. They provide you with a Nespresso machine and if you've never tried it I STRONGLY encourage you to do so. Very nice extra to have in the flat. You can buy capsules at the Nespresso boutique near the Spanish Steps. The shower worked great; I never ran out of hot water. Apartment is quiet for a large city. As the description clearly states there is only a washer and not a dryer. Also no microwave but a handy little toaster over. The flat is in an excellent location. Great neighborhood and I always felt very safe. I was there by myself and didn't feel like I had to worry. Excellent staff, outstanding location, and an amazing city! Thank you for everything. I will be back next year in Settembre and will definitely be staying with you again!

Perfect location

We spent two weeks here. The flat is small but well-appointed and very convenient. We walked to almost everything, and when we needed to take the Metro, the Spagna station is just a short walk (8 minutes) away. There's a supermarket and several bancomats nearby. We ate at many neighborhood restaurants and never had a bad meal. We took advantage of some of the extras: airport pickup and drop-off was convenient and well worth it. The welcome basket provided us with lunches for the whole first week. After walking all day, we were grateful not to have to climb stairs to get home! Thanks Sergio, Valentina, and Ncola for a wonderful stay in Roma!

Romantic and convenient

We spent 5 delightful days in this exceptionally conveniently located apartment. we were met exactly as we had been told, oriented thoroughly and efficiently to the apartment, and provided with plenty of emergency support. The apartment was everything and more than we had expected--very well equipped with many comforts such as an easy espresso machine and extra pillows, and delightfully quirky. The location couldn't have been better. We literally walked to every place we wanted to visit including the Vatican, the Coloseum, the Spanish Steps (every evening!), the Borghese gardens and museum. There were excellent restaurants and cafes all around us. We felt like citizens of the city--it was lovely.

Perfect Location in Rome

This was our first time in Rome, we stayed at the Lupa Flat for 4 nights. Our host met us when we arrived and provided us a welcome basket (we had paid for one). The apartment is located between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi fountain and it's located close to some high end shops. The WiFi made looking things up very easy. The apartment is the right size for a family of 4. It's located on the ground floor. The kitchen is a bit small but it comes with a washer, toaster oven a small refrigerator. I would recommend this apartment to anyone interested in visiting Rome. We took the taxi from the Roma Termini station and it costs 10 Euros (8 Euro for the ride and 2 Euro for our 4 luggage/backpack). There is a Supermarket located about 5 minutes away, that's where we did our grocery shopping. Overall, we had a positive experience staying at this lovely apartment.

Great location, great introduction to Italy

My husband and I rented this flat for our first accommodation in an almost three-week trip in Italy and found its location to be excellent--within walking distance of restaurants, markets, and many sights. It was furnished as advertised--no unpleasant surprises. Although the kitchen is small, it served our purposes for simple breakfasts; with its pots, pans, and utensils, it could be used for more expansive meals. One caution: an arched ceiling at the bedroom entrance at about 5' 10" necessitated my 6'2" husband's "ducking" to enter and exit the room (he adjusted quickly and found it to be part of the charm of the flat). We were greeted upon our arrival early on a Sunday morning by an owner's representative, who was pleasant and informative--a nice introduction to the flat and Rome. We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights here and recommend it!

Unbelievable location, responsive owners, Roman charm

We just spent 10 days is this lovely apartment and highly recommend it. The flat is just as seen in the pictures, which isn't always the case with rentals. Valentino and Sergio were so easy to work with and very responsive to our questions before we arrived and during our stay. The flat is a great introduction to how one converts a space from a several hundred year old building into a modern living space-- full of quirky charm. Add in the personality of the owners as shown by the decor and this place is a delight. You will feel like a Roman! One aspect we did not fully realize at the start of our staywas the incredible location. As it is on a small street and the surrounding buildings are high, it is easy to miss the "big picture" So when you stay here, be sure to get your bearings. Walk just a minute in any direction and you will find yourself on a main street. The Spanish Steps, the Vittorio Emmanuele monument, etc. are all easily visible. We never bothered with the Metro or bus as walking to everything from the Colosseum to the Vatican was so easy. We couldn't believe how easy it was to get around on foot. The little grocery store, Shopping Paradise, is out the door, turn left and then right at the corner. Restaurants are everywhere. Dry cleaner is out the door on the right at the end of the street. With the Parliament building just down the street, there are plenty of police about and never did we feel unsafe at any time day or night. The flat was everything we needed, but it may not work if you are a person of significant size (in either direction). Several of the doorways are quite short and the shower is small (but it has unlimited hot water due to the flash heater). The bathroom is en suite with the bedroom, so if you plan on using the living room sofa bed, it might be inconvenient, unless it is just for younger children. These are minor issues. Overall, this is a great place to stay and we look forward to returning soon!

Location Location Location

Lupa Flat is in the absolute perfect location for walking around Rome. We walked EVERYWHERE from here. There are great restaurants nearby, and not tourist traps that charge you an arm and a leg, but wonderful places, like Ginos!!! This was our first time in Rome, and we were worried about being in a safe location with our daughter, and this was VERY safe. The police and parliment are nearby, so there are police everywhere. We never saw one vagrant or beggar in our area at all. The owner is very accomodating. I locked the flat keys in the apartment and the owner responded quickly to let me back in. This place is also a great value. The beds were comfortable. The shower is quite small, so a large person (300#+) may have problems fitting in it. The flat is on the main floor, so no stairs, plus the windows are all covered with iron grates, so there is no fear of someone climbing in, and it is also in a security building with several gates and doors to enter. Very safe. The kitchen is small, but we didn't cook--we ate a Ginos!

Perfect Location in Old Roma

Lupa Flat is just steps from Piazza Borghese and minutes from Piazza navonna, the Pantheon and Campo d'fiori. Everything is convenient, a nearby grocery several wineshops, a fine bakery on via Scrofa , the via condotti for fashion and Vatican City within an easy walk. the flat is well appointed but with limited kitchen space. the bed is very comfortable, the hot water fine and plentiful, the WiFi excellent, and the door locks superbly secure. There is a nice local restaurant on the block and countless places nearby. Piazza Lucina is 3 minutes stroll and the Corso just 5.Wonderful morning coffee and croissant in P. Lucina. For a couple this place is hard to beat.
