"Beautiful property and lovely staff… Breakfast was great and I would advise that you book dinner in advance as it gets booked up fast!"

"My initial impression wasn’t great. The hotel part was really in need of a good lick of paint and a new carpet. That said, it is a very old building so some allowances should be made. The bed in the room was very comfortable with fresh white linen and fluffy pillows. The bathroom was tiny but modern and clean. The staff was nice and very welcoming of my little dog. The bar is stylishly decorated in keeping with its age but with a modern edge. As a solo traveller I didn’t fancy staying up late in the bar and found the staff were very accommodating when I asked to take a glass of wine to my room. I was then able to relax on the bed and watch the massive TV (England v Croatia FIFA World Cup). I was given a key to the main door which was great for late night and early morning dog wees. Breakfast was delicious (Eggs Royale)"

"We had a lovely, comfortable room (6) with a nice view but the air-conditioning was either not working or ineffective. The breakfasts were great and the Happy Hour prices at the bar good. We were disappointed that the bar closed early yesterday and we couldn't get a "half time" refill. It wasn't open at all Tuesday evening because of staff sickness but we were made aware of that."

"The George, like most properties in Rye is a very old building which whilst adding to its charm also presents the usual issues surrounding layout and maintenance We had room 29 which was a reasonable size however looked tied and was decorated in a Psychedelic Orange patterned wall paper covering all walls and ceiling!! Evidence of mould on window frames however over all the room was clean Like all hotels in Rye the cost of room was higher than your usual hotel stay but that is the price of staying in Rye Food looked good however we ate out as plenty of good quality options close by with greater variety and cheaper prices"

"Our room was beautiful with a lovely Juliet balcony over looking the gardens. The room was spotless and the toiletries were super useful. The staff were really helpful, especially at breakfast when I could not decide what to have! We regret not bringing swim/gym wear to use the gum and swimming facilities."

"A great hotel, with beautiful furniture, bespoke rooms, lovely breakfast. The couple that run this hotel are awesome. Nothing was too much trouble. Happy to have a good chat or to leave you to your day. Organised a restaurant and taxi for us, which we went back to the next day. If we had more time we would have afternoon tea, which looked lovely. We will be going back. Thank you for making my 50th birthday special."
