"Great place to stay in downtown Victoria! "

"They told me that there’s an upgrade to my room however it is not a harbour view. Then they said “their system made a mistake and gave my room to someone else”, and they can only offer me something not as good. And they call that an “upgrade”. I. The end, they called another guest and swapped our rooms. So I still get a room similar to what I booked - king bed in a suite, with harbour view. The room is fantastic. This accident was the only downside of this trip. My guess is that they had to gave my room to someone more “royal” than I am, and only tried to fool me with a so called “upgrade”. The “upgrade” was either a room with two queen beds and harbour view, or a room with king bed and crater, no harbour view. Hard to say any of these two is comparable to what I booked. "

"The room was clean and beautiful however I throught it was divided since it mentioned a separate seating area. It wasn't. The bed and the Sofabed are in the same room. I was hoping for more privacy and have one bed separated. This is a self check-in guesthouse however I was surprised to see that someone was there to assist briefly till 5:00 pm. The property is beautiful and well kept. The common kitchen, dining area were great."

"The Dashwood is a heritage building and obviously would have many challenges to maintain a top notch accommodation site. Along with being exceptionally clean Dashwood also does a very good job of keeping the authenticity of the building while adding modern improvements with a heritage touch (ie. new soaker tub, sink and toilet fit the look of an old fashioned bathroom). The breakfast room, with a view of the ocean, was beautiful and the food scrumptious! The staff were polite, friendly and always helpful if required. It would be nice to have a common room on the main floor but it was suffice to be able to access coffee, tea, bottled water and delightful dessert treats in the breakfast area 24/7! The ocean view, Dallas Road promenade and close proximity to Cook Street Village were all huge considerations in our choice of Dashwood Manor. We were not disappointed. We'll be back!"
