Syracuse is a beautiful city with so much history and plenty to see and do. Visit the ancient Greek ruins (~500 BC) and stroll the quaint, nearly car-free Jewish quarter on Ortigia.

The archaeological park is wonderful. Great seaside bike path to the east of the city, past the wartime Fascist monument to The African War dead (invasion of Abyssinia as it is known outside Italy). Great views of the sea & harbour around the hotel.

Syracuse- Ortigia is a must visit if you are in Sicily. The history and the beauty of the place is incredibile. Every corner is a discovery, a breath taking sight. Food is excellent and the overall feeling is incredibly relaxing.

"Fantastic!! We had such a wonderful time the two nights we stayed at Hotel Scala and wish we stayed longer! We arrived our first night very late and were ravenous from our travels that day, the staff offered us dinner right after we got settled in at the restaurant on the property. We got wine and the spaghetti vongole, which was delicious. The air conditioner kept the room nice and cold which was lovely to come back to at the end of the day. The two men who ran the place were extremely helpful in giving directions to the Main town Ortigia as well as helping us with anything we needed! Lovely place & lovely people! The only thing we wish was different was the location being closer to the main town, other than that it was great! "
