Wow this was such a highlight of our trip! Def wortg the trip! The onsen was amazing, the rooms were beautiful ,the dinner and breakfast experience delicious, and the staff super sweet. One thing to note, this is about an hr bus ride from Takayama station! We cut it really close because we didn't realize how far it was, if you get there after a certain time, they can't serve you dinner so plan accordingly

We had a great stay at Ichika Machiya Holiday House. It was close to the train station and lots of great restaurants. The house was very very nice and clean. Thank you for a great stay!

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station, making it easy to get around. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic and exceeded my expectations. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back!

This was the most personal, kind experience I have ever received from a hotel. The building itself is beautiful - this is a true look at a traditional Japanese Ryokan with a few modern comforts. The staff gave us tons of suggestions for things to do and a whole basket of sweets to try on the house. The Sake tasting was also free. This is the best place I have ever stayed.

This was by far the best place we stayed during our time in the Kamikochi area.
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Their hospitality was warm, attentive, and truly exceptional.
The hotel is full of thoughtful details that reflect traditional Japanese culture. We especially loved all the beautiful handcrafted decorations throughout the property. The gift shop was another highlight—the owner’s mother handmakes many of...

If is a charming traditional Japanese inn in Takayama. It’s location is very convenient for walking to the train station and the main tourist area, but it is situated on a quiet side street. The staff was very friendly. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. We were given kimonos to wear. A very authentic experience.

We had a nice one-night stay here. Bedrooms were much bigger than anticipated and we were able to utilize the washer/dryer which was a plus. Very close to the train station.

The hosts are so very kind, welcoming and accomodating. They maintain the authentic experience of using a traditional family style inn from years past. Just be aware that bathrooms are communal, but have a nice onsen style aesthetic :)

Nice and efficient hotel in excellent location near train station and old town. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff fairly fluent in English. Gets large group tours so common areas can get very busy at times.

This was my favorite accommodation in Japan. It was very cozy and made me feel home. We had the Sennari room. There were 4 beds in two rooms but we only used two. There was a microwave, fridge, kitchen sink with dishes/soap, washer/dryer, kitchen table, sofa. It was two levels with bedrooms upstairs. We never saw our host. It was self check in with a code. It was located in a great area. We were able to walk to and from the train with our luggage. There were several restaurants and shopping very...
