"We stayed at the hotel while attending my son’s ice hockey national final. Overall, the experience was just okay. One of the main issues was breakfast. I had a very early start on Sunday, but breakfast did not begin until 8am, which meant we were unable to use the breakfast we had paid for. I asked the staff whether any food could be provided earlier, but was told this was not possible due to allergy concerns. I also asked whether the money we had paid for breakfast could instead be used towards dinner in the hotel restaurant, but this was not offered as an option either. As a result, I am now having to request a refund from Hotels.com for the breakfast we paid for but could not access. We also used the pool during our stay. Unfortunately, it felt like it could benefit from an upgrade and a more thorough clean. While the staff were polite enough, I did not feel they went the extra mile on this occasion. Given the circumstances, especially knowing we had an early start for a national sporting final, a little flexibility or effort would have made a big difference."

"This hotel is very nice and beautifully run . A fantastic team very welcoming and very professional . This was apparent up on arrival and continued thorough out of our stay by all the staff . This is mainly down to a fantastic management .You and your team are a credit to the hotel and the Marriott group. We had a fantastic time staying at courtyard and looking forward to our return in the near future . My wife and I and our daughter and her husband believe that this hotel is by far one of the best hotels in the area . A spacial thanks to Mr Lewis Watson and Robin"

"Very close to Sheffield railway station and easy to find. Check in (& out) was easy and quick. Room was ready well before time stated. The air conditioning was very welcome on a very hot day. Room clean and quiet. I liked that it had a bath but as the shower was over the bath this might be a problem for the less able as climbing into a bath can be difficult."

"The hotel was really good for staying for a local under-14s football tournament. What was a bit frustrating was that we booked it to have access to the pool, which was advertised, only to discover it’s actually the university’s swimming pool. When we booked to go swimming on the Saturday, it was shut for maintenance (which I know the hotel can’t do anything about). The Sunday slot we booked was only lane swimming, as half the pool was taken up with swimming lessons and the other four lanes were for lane swimmers. It wasn’t really the sort of swimming for our children that you'd expect from a hotel. The rest of the experience was excellent. Breakfast was really good and the staff were really helpful."

"The location of this hotel is excellent for everything in the centre of Sheffield, we were attending a wedding at the town hall which is just a few steps away from the from of the hotel The staff were very helpful and friendly The room was spacious and very comfy Very clean. There was water provided and an iron and board, Air con was great as it was a hot weekend Overall a great experience"

"Cleanliness kept to a good standard. Staff in reception, breakfast bar and cleaners very helpful. Good choice of food for breakfast, full English and continental, pastries were good, nice coffee machines. Accessible parking and with voucher code from the hotel keeps it at an affordable price. Overall good experience, nothing to complain about."

Mercure Sheffield St Paul's Hotel & Spa

"Breakfast was very disappointing, fruit dry, bacon overcooked. The black pudding was rock solid, staff didn’t greet on arrival, or clear away plates!! Room was clean and lovely, but being in room 504 the beep every time someone called the lift was incredibly annoying. The bar pumps need cleaning none of the drinks we tried were cold or tasted right, as a result we opted not to go back to the hotel for drink."
