It ended up being a much better option: the staff was lovely, the bar and restaurant was great, and the rooms were nice and comfortable for what we needed. "Warm, friendly welcome by the owner. As it turned out, we were the only visitors staying in the hotel, so had a nice opportunity for a chat over a beer - well stocked with what appeared to be the full range of bottled beers from Purple Moose Brewery of Porthmadog. Food was fantastic - both of us had the lamb which was stunning. Lots of it & full of flavour. The accompanying vegetables were equally full of taste. We can confirm that the website comment regarding food: "Our chef Darren cooks & prepares excellent freshly prepared food using local welsh suppliers & products. Darren’s style of cooking is unpretentious, uncomplicated yet well presented & cooked plates with generous portions of homemade food." is absolutely spot on! Equally, breackfast the next morning, though there were only the two of us staying had a full choice of cereals & fruit laid out - all prepared fresh - and again, the "Full Welsh" breakfast set us up for the day's activities. Decent-sized room with equally roomy en-suite completed the accommodation. As there was only the two of us, we stayed in the visitors' lounge rather than going into the Residents' One."
