The location, Makunduchi, is very calm. It's perfect for those who want some rest. The hotel facilities are simple but clean, organized and comfortable. I got impressed with the Wi-fi connection in the rooms. It's very good considering the location is far from Stone Town. Not the best connection but quite fast and reliable. The food is very good, tasty and prices are fair. Don't hire tours (Blue Safari, Stone Town, etc.) thru the local hotels because they are more expensive than if you negotiate...

My stay was absolutely phenomenal! I would recommend this property 100 times over the staff were so nice, professional, accommodating, and their hospitality was through the roof. The food was delicious and the property was clean! But the thing that stood out to me the most was I had my bags not make it on my flight and they were so accommodating. We had a great stay at the Sands. The staff were amazing, from Mr. Ally the GM to the executive chef and the cooks like Thomas who took care of us. The food was first class - this goes for breakfast right through to dinner. Amazing food and fantastic service. The beach was beautiful, clean and safe. We could not have asked for more. Even the Masai security guards were great! We loved it. Would definitely recommend the Sands in Zanzibar. We'll be back.

I really want to write this review to commend the staff at Aluna. I got horrible food poisoning from food I ate outside of the hotel and felt like I was on death’s door. However once the staff was aware of this, they took note and periodically checked on me to make sure I was okay. Rahman went above and beyond bringing me water, medicine and even food to make sure I was okay. Our family had an amazing time at this property. The staff was always engaged and friendly. Quiet and peaceful area. 1 minute walk to beach and to numerous places to eat. We ate dinner at a different type of cuisine each night. The pool was beautiful. Breakfast made to order whenever we arrived. Gym and spa available. Staff always eager to give advice and just ask how our day is going and if we need anything. I would definitely stay here again.
