The Plough Inn

"This place was perfect. I stayed in one of the tiny houses for 4 nights, I cannot begin to tell you how perfect it was. Firstly, the staff - from the manager, the bar staff, the meal staff, the breakfast lady, the owners, and the terrific people that service the rooms, everyone was lovely, helpful, friendly, and genuinely so. Really felt welcomed and cared for. Now the tiny house, it has everything, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a comfy comfy bed nook that was so great to sleep in - not only that you are in a gorgeous natural setting by a lovely creek. I had a brilliant sleep - also there is a little fireplace - kept the place super snug (there was also an electric heater). The location is great too - I was on foot, so I had to organise transport from the station as the road was a bit far if you have lots of luggage - but just talk to the Plough - they will sort you out if you need. When you don't have luggage, town is just a 15 minute walk through great scenery and the train and bus are right there. The walks around the Plough are terrfic, you can walk through the paddocks or by the creek - just stunning. I loved everything about this place, cannot recommend it enough - I can't wait to come back. Oh I forgot to mention the food! The breakfast delicious and a good range (and a great pot of tea), all the meals I had were great - generous, tasty, and good value."

"Had a lovely long weekend here! House was really comfortable and clean and had everything we needed (I don’t think I’ve been in a holiday cottage that had sharp kitchen knives before!). Lots of good recommendations for places to go in the village as well. The only downside is we had to go home!"

"I purchased for my parents and they had a lovely time. The staff were extremely accommodating and my parents were very happy with their stay. They did say the matress had a big dip in it, but apart from that, it was an excellent stay. Dinner in the restaurant and breakfast provided was lovely! Staff were exceptionally accommodating when I rung them and asked to pay for my parents dinner, which was brilliant. Very pleased! I’m going to book again for myself. 😜"

"Meine Frau und ich waren für ein paar Tage in diesem schönen Ferienhaus. Das Haus liegt in mitten der tollen Natur des Peak District und man hat eine wunderbare Aussicht von dort auf die umliegenden Berge und Täler. Auf den umliegenden Feldern grasen Schafe und schauen auch mal neugierig zu einem hinüber am Gatter. Aber auch viele andere Tiere sind vom Haus aus gut zu beobachten.Das Haus ist modern und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Ausstattung ist super und mehr als man oftmals in Ferienhäusern vorfindet. Wir haben in der Zeit dort nichts vermisst.Die Lage ist toll. Man kann zu Fuß nach Hathersage gehen oder auch zum Stanage Edge. Viele andere Orte im Peak District sind von dort einfach mit dem Auto erreichbar.Was man allerdings unbedingt berücksichtigen muss, ist der Weg zwischen dem Bauernhof, wo man parkt, und dem Ferienhaus. Der Weg führt über zwei steile Felder ca. 100 Höhenmeter hinauf. Zum Glück bringen die Vermieter einen bei Ankunft und Abfahrt mit einem Allradfahrzeug zur und von der Unterkunft."
