"Hideo and Yuka were wonderful hosts. Hideo is a great guide and very easy to talk to. The authentic Thatch home was both beautiful and comfortable. We enjoyed having coffee every morning while looking out the large windows at the cherry blossum trees. Very nice location away from all the people in Kyoto. Easy 1hr bus ride into Kyoto city. They have a friendly Golden Retriever and a French Bulldog to play with if you like dogs! The Fishmarket excursion was fun and unique with Hideo helping select fish, and Yuka preparing the food (She's a Michilen Star Sous Chef). Hideo also took us to see peaceful shrines, an ocean view atop a mountain and the scenic old Thatch village. Thank you Hideo and Yuka for the 5 Star stay and all the great memories! "

"We enjoyed our one night in this Ryokan. It was fun and authentic. There was a certian peace and relaxed mode that it put us on. We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens). The room #24 was spacious, clean, and well kept. Yes, we wore the provided pajamas/yukata. The shower had great pressure and was also spacious. Friendly staff and food at the restaurant was yummy. The gardens were beautiful traditional Japanese gardens. As always, loved the toilet/bidet. Loved this spot!"

"The staff were so friendly and helpful, we loved the traditional breakfast, they were accommodating to my husband who can’t eat fish. They have a courtesy bus that takes you to Arashiyama which I didn’t know and so glad they suggested. The futons are hard but I got used to them. They also said their onsen is tattoo friendly. But most of the place is in such a spectacular forest it was so pretty in the late autumn I will definitely be going back. "

"The room was very clean and the staff were very friendly. However you are sleeping on the floor, we knew this before coming but didn’t realise how thin the futons would be. The dinner was okay, very traditional experience but not for me (although my partner enjoyed it). Very peaceful place. Would recommend booking a private session in the onsen if you are uncomfortable going in there nude as they don’t allow swimsuits. "
