"Nice building from the outside. Dining and bar area full of character. Outside area renovated. But inside is severely behind the times and it shows throughout. Very dated."

"Cooked breakfast was good but the buffet was very sparse. Lack of choice. All that was on the buffet was 2 cereals, tangerines a couple of yogurts, basic bread, a couple of fruit juice and a coffee machine that hardly worked. Never seen a buffet so basic "

"On arrival there was road works outside the hotel which we were unaware of. I had messaged to ask where to park but got no answer. The parking is payable across the road and behind some houses. The hotel building is very old and the bar area is quite nice. The two young lads on the bar were very nice and friendly. The room we had was in need of decoration and updating, not in good shape. We had drinking facilities provided but I’d advise take your own as the ones given were to certain tastes....

"Our stay was very disappointing despite the attractive grounds. Check in told us nothing. Room was not serviced and had a constant buzzing from somewhere. No breakfast chef on second morning so no cooked breakfast. Cold buffet extremely basic. Restaurant not open either night so had to eat out. Felt empty of guests so bar very uninviting.Didn't discover lounge until second day and then water damaged ceiling and a filthy carpet."

"Fantastic stay between Bath & Stonehenge. Surrounding towns provide tonnes of history, monuments and pleasant hills. Great carpark and good showers. It was an unusual hot night and the room had a fan!!! Great staff, I recommend."

"Location is superb, 100 ft to Chippenham bus station, and leads than 10 minutes bistro from the train station. Room is spacious, so is the bathroom, big and renovated. Courtyard is nice. There is a leisure pool at site too. Huge parking lot at back. The buffet breakfast offered was full English style and truly great. Staffs were super friendly. I stayed here one night to visit the near by Cotswold villages, like Castle Combe, which was only half an hour away. If the windows could be upgraded and...

"Staff were excellent but the hotel room was a bit tired with some general maintenance required. Very hot in the heat wave conditions with only a small desk fan provided and windows unable to be opened more than a few inches. Meal was disappointing. Beer was cold"

"Dirty room, sofa bed not made, window not opening, air condition not working, fridge not working, the bathroom was not properly cleaned receptionist not cooperative. In the end I insisted to move to another room. Overall I was a very unhappy client. Rooms need to be upgraded they are outdated."

"Set in beautiful grounds, good hearty breakfast clean bedding and towels. Hotel is a lovely old place and would benefit from a slight redecorate. Carpets need to be cleaned at the edges if this was done then 5 star from me. I will stay again next time I am in the area. Good night's sleep on very comfy beds"

"Good size room .baking hot no air con.the little Dyson fan good for nothing.a strong metal fan would do the trick..one night had somebody kicking and banging at the door desperate to get in scary to say the least.very easy for people just to wander around the hotel floors inebriated!! Breakfast a bit chaotic and bland.sounds a bit negative but generally good value for money oh no double glazing so road noise kept me awake.aroom away from road and no heatwave and will stay again"
