"Unfortunately this was very poor.
When I arrived in my room after 8pm the balcony door was wide open, on a chilly windy October evening - so the room was cold with insects flying around from the neighbouring lake. The TV did not have any channels working, and when I went to reception to ask about this and the door being left open I was told ‘this is all out of our hands’ with no offer of alternative room or reduction in the price - given they advertised 22 channels on being available this is...
"The only positive from our stay, if it didn’t
Happen, would have actually been a blessing . The front desk agreed to help us check in later than possible by leaving key in lockbox. Unfortunately, same desk clerk told us hotel was in Dumfries which has a road with a similar which led u s to council housing at midnight. Once we discovered the error we have another 1 hour 15 minute ride to “hotel”. Upon arriving, key was in lockbox, room was large but beds were from the 19th century, incredibly...
"Unfortunately another disappointing night at the Inn. Went for a meal, again staffing issues with chefs resulting in quite a few things not being available. I thought there was a wedding function going on as every now and then loud music would blast through the restaurant area but it was just the music coming from the kitchen area as the doors swung open and closed. Sadly in need of a makeover."
"The room was lovely but the sink in the en-suite was tiny & hard to get a wash or clean your teeth in without getting water everywhere. The front of the sink unit was already water damaged. The shower was good & easy to use.
The lady who greeted us was very helpful & friendly especially as we forgot to take our key out with us & had to ask her to let us in to our room. Nothing seemed like too much trouble for her. There was a good choice for breakfast which was cooked to order"
"Appologies to the lady who owns the place because I was the only guest which probabaly explains a lot .
The place smells badly and the room was freezing cold . Stains on the carpets and duvet.
Breakfast was cooked well but had no extras .
60 pound for a single and this situation was way too much"
"We stayed just the one night. The staff were very friendly and eager to provide good service. We enjoyed a pleasant drink on the lovely patio overlooking the river followed by a tasty meal in the bar. Breakfast was excellent . Our room was fairly basic with quite a small ensuite . The WiFi was good. We were pleased with our stay which represented good value."
"The hotel is very nice, with lovely rooms and beautiful surroundings. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful, although they often had to juggle multiple roles at once, which sometimes made them difficult to find. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay, and if I return to Castle Douglas, I would happily stay here again."
"This is an excellent b&b,we stayed in the annex(Huntington suite).A very well decorated and furnished annex. It was very quiet and the room was very well heated if you wanted it and had a fan. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was great with low level walk in shower. Please be careful when showering as water does get onto the floor past the screen and the floor can be slippery.A good tv and comfortable couch and chair. A very spacious room and I highly recommend this place....
"You get such a warm welcome from the owner, she makes you feel so at home straight away.
The rooms we had were so clean and ideal for our stay.
The rooms were warm and so quiet.
The breakfast was so nicely cooked and tasty.
This is a must stop if staying in this locality"
