"Beautiful and quiet. The chef is amazing and our dinner was delicious. The manager/waiter was not so pleasant. I think it may have been a language barrier issue as we don’t speak Italian and he doesn’t speak English and he didn’t have much patience for translating. Beautifully maintained hotel. A few of the staff spoke some English and they were more than helpful. The hotel is in a good location as far as being in the center of the old part of town, but parking is very limited. Another downside is wifi. I could never get my phone to connect. But when you are in an ancient, beautiful city do you need wifi? I would highly recommend Hotel San Nicola to travelers.

Great location near historic center with a comfortable room and excellent breakfast with various homemade products. Anna was so nice and welcoming. She made you feel like you were visiting a friend. I was interested in cooking and she and her cousin taught me how to make pasta. She also provided great recommendations about local shops like Molino di Benedetto which had an amazing selection of flours for baking.

We loved our stay in this Masseria. The staff, the room and the premises were outstanding and I must emphasize their breakfast table,which was included in my price, it was amazing and delicious, the staff went all out of their way to please us and make us feel wonderful during our stay!! Beatrice gave us great recommendations for Matera and was very attentive and eager to make us feel welcome. I would recommend this Masseria without hesitation!! Wonderful and beautiful place!!

Great location if u are w a car; staff was very attentive, room was lovely and very functional and breakfast was great w variety and fresh items. Antonella checked me in and since the gym was not open, she let me borrow 2 weights so I could work out in my room; both male bartenders in the evening (my apologies, I did not get their names) were so accommodating and Laura at breakfast on Sunday was so lovely and attentive. GREAT hotel when u visit Matera.

We were visiting for a little weekend away after our wedding, and she made it so special for us. The room was beautiful, in a perfect location and so cozy. We had an amazing stay at the Cenobio Hotel! It can be a bit tricky to find if it's your first time in Matera, and you can't drive directly to the hotel. Plus, there are some steps to navigate both downhill and uphill. Knowing this from other reviews, we contacted the hotel before our arrival. This is a unique property in the middle of antic city Matera. Beautiful views from the windows to die for, location, etc. Hotel is in excellent condition, furniture, room design, etc. Breakfast is very good. Great options for fine food in the area. You need to be prepare to walk a lot in the city of Matera with steps up and down including to and from hotel. If you can not walk - it is not for you.
