I've stayed at Joie de Vivre hotels before with good results but this one is a step above any I've experienced. I haven't checked on when this gem was built but it is exceptionally clean. The grout in the shower looks like it's never seen soap before. It's located in the best possible spot in Palo Alto for walkable shops and restaurants, the staff is courteous and professional, the rooms are good sized and stylish... Gorgeous hotel in downtown San Francisco. Clean, front staff was courteous, efficient and friendly. Location is close to a lot of great destinations around downtown. One small gripe is the staff in the bar lounge area were definitely waking up on the wrong side of the bed. Got very nasty very quick for no reason, they apologized later, after i continued to be friendly, but it was too late - whatever, didn't take away from the hotel overall, definitely worth it.
