"I love this little pub - second time I’ve stayed here while passing through. The owners and staff are lovely, the food is nice, the rooms are comfortable, and the area is stunningly gorgeous - I’ve been on some great walks along the Dart River and the other way onto Dartmoor. It’d be a great place to stay for a walking trip. "
"Wonderful little place, from the moment we arrived Helga and Denys were so welcoming. Room was spotless and well appointed, water in fridge each day was a lovely touch. Breakfast, as many have said, was on a par with a 5* hotel. By far the best place we’ve stayed in Torquay. It’s a little way back, but #12 bus round corner and Torre station is a 2 minute walk, also one of the quietest places you’ll find. Would definitely return and recommend for anyone visiting Torquay 👍"

"Liz and Paul were very friendly and took all our requests and answered them quickly. Breakfast was out of this world. Room was very clean and plenty of sockets for all your things that needed charging, it was also very spacious. Liz was always there to answer any questions and Paul was always around but not seen very much as he was probably chained to the range dealing with all the breakfasts, but very pleasant when you did see him :-). "Property owner Julia was excellent, very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had a balcony room which gave us extra space during our stay. Balcony is small but adequate for 2 people to sit out and enjoy the sea view and fresh air. Bed was comfortable. Property is very clean and well presented. Lovely outdoor pool and garden area. "

We contacted reception the next morning and they were very considerate and we were offered an alternative room that was more acceptable. The location, food and the staff were excellent. We hope to return."

"One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. It’s a lovely traditional hotel building (1920s shall we say?) which has been beautifully renovated and refurbished. Both the big picture and the small details are delightful. Staff service was friendly with a real sense of team and purpose. I haven’t mentioned the small outdoor pool (constant 27c) or hot tub simply because I didn’t use them this time! I can’t remember what I paid for my one-night visit but it was a bargain, and I would be very happy to...
