"I booked a two-night stay at Pine Inn during my daughter’s spring break. We’re local. Our room was ready earlier than the official check-in time, and it was clean and matched what was shown on the website and in traveler photos. Parking is located across the street and is first-come, first-served, with one EV charging spot available. Unfortunately, the stay was far from restful. After returning from dinner, we experienced constant loud door slamming (the doors seem to auto-shut), along with banging and noise from surrounding rooms that continued until midnight. The most frustrating part was the next morning. We were woken up around 7:00 AM by loud work noises right outside our room. This was extremely disruptive and not something we expected. When I called the front desk, they seemed unaware and told me work was supposed to begin at 9:00 AM on the roof. However, when we left the room, we saw workers removing carpet from the stairs—not working on the roof as stated. I reported the issue again at checkout and was told other guests had complained as well. The response felt dismissive, as if there was nothing they could do. To the hotel: please inform guests in advance about any planned maintenance or early-morning work so they can plan accordingly. Guests should not have to adjust their stay around unexpected construction noise—especially when they come to Carmel for a quiet, relaxing experience."

"The property is nice and walking distance to a lot of stuff is a perk. The parking was a little tough. Fills up fast and if you have a big car, you will struggle. We knew the rooms didn’t have air but didn’t realize only one window so no cross breeze and they left the shutters open to full sun so when we got in our room, it was toasty. But the front desk employee was nice enough to bring us a fan and it was sufficient. Breakfast was basic but did the job. The property is a bit old which is understandable but beware of the things that come along with that. In the morning if another rooms decides to take a shower or flush the toilet, you will hear it. In our particular room, it sounded like boat horns. But overall, it was decent. "

"Parking was ok, first come first served so if the parking lot is full you need to park somewhere else. The parking lot is very small. Decent normal room in terms of a clean room. Staff is only there from the 8am until about 3pm or so. They said service dogs don’t get charged but we got charged and I’ve been asking for this credit for weeks and nothing has been done. Would not go back. Although the location is great. "

Walking distance to all restaurants, shops, and beach (if you want to walk the hill) The bar brought some extra midnight noise but if you don’t mind that, and are a hard sleeper, or in a room not next to it, you’re probably fine. Parking is tight "

"We loved our stay at the Quail Lodge. I actually went with my family many years ago and this time returned with my husband. We did reserve a room with a golf pond view and it was the best choice. The pond had a peaceful water fountain that the birds just lived. Sitting and relaxing in the sun was all we needed that day. Rooms are charmingly old and have everything one could ever need. The bed was so comfortable I’m actually looking into the mattress they use. We ate twice at the restaurant and because we entered dinner close to closing hours it was a bit rushed. The food was delicious and we were pleased. Breakfast came with our booking and was very enjoyable with wonderful coffee. The room had gives, slippers, water, all the toiletries one could need. A seperate tub and walk in shower. Bathroom was huge. I’m planning a trip to the lodge now for my girlfriend and her husband. She is a avid golfer and I’m sure they will love it! "
