"The room appeared clean at first glance but we started to notice things along the way. In general, it’s good practice to sanitize the surfaces and the bathroom, and wash any dishes. There was hair in the tub and on the sink. The dishes had appeared to be used and not washed. One of the comforters had these pink spots like juice or cough syrup or something got splashed on it. Many of the surfaces were not wiped down. You could see cup rings and there was also a sticky spot here and there. The property itself was ok but budget level with a high end face. If you told me this was a budget hotel, I’d have given higher marks. It was however, conveniently located in downtown Monterey and had onsite parking. We stayed in the building across from it so it was a little schlep. I did not see any of those rolling luggage carriers. We unfortunately had a neighbor with a loud yappy dog. It barked all freakin night; not straight through but intermittently. So it would bark and wake us up, then it would be quiet and we could fall asleep, then bark again. It started around 9:30p and went on like this until about 1a. The staff did nothing. They said they sent security up but security never did. We waited for them. I had the barking on recording to show them. The two room conjoin if needed so we heard it through the door in our room. Overall staff were nice enough but seemed disinterested in helping us and felt we couldn’t ask so we just figured it out ourselves. "

"Overall if was a very good stay. Front desk person was not nice, second girl, first was very nice. Watch internet site because the picture does not match the view. Managers helped us get the room that we wanted but since resort was full we had to wait a day. Hotel staff is a little clueless about the golf course."

"One of the nicest ocean front motels I have stayed in. Clean, spacious. Steps to beach, parks and restaurants. Great for kids. Staff very nice. No noise like previous reviews. It get warm but they have fans. I highly recommend this place."

"We liked this location, but not much else. The bed wasn’t really comfortable, the blinds didn’t work, the walls seem thin (noisy neighbors both nights), and we kept finding bugs in the room - climbing on chairs, the bed and us while we slept! The happy hour and continental breakfast were a nice offering, but the breakfast was almost entirely carbs. The parking lot fills up fast, so guests end up having to park down the street. We wanted to like this place more, due to it’s location, but I doubt we will ever stay here again."
