"Because it was a holiday weekend, and it rained, and there were accidents, we were 2 hours late, and one hour after check in. We called, and Ian said "No problem". We walked in and I was apologizing like mad, and Ian just said "You are here now, just relax". I could have hugged him! The house is beautiful, the décor just lovely. "For the cost of the hotel I expected better service. There was one waiter serving from the bar and we sat on the lawned terrace for 25 minutes and no one came to serve us so I had to ask reception to send someone. The spa is very old and desperately in need of a full refurbishment. The food was fairly good but considering the cost wasn’t worth it as I've eaten better three course meals for less in many other top restaurants. "We had a suite. Fun with different rooms but very unpractical- bathroom is across the hall with no plugs. Beautiful tub ❤️ in a different room with no plugs. Bed alone in a room. And only plugs were by the desk. Made it tricky. Hotel was old and fun. City was great. "

Only able bodied people as no lift and stairs and hotel on a steep hill.would have rated 5 stars but the mattress was badly worn in twin room and dipped in the middle so felt like you rolled into it which effected a good nights sleep.
