Hakodate was a highlight for us. The fantastic views from the top on the cable car during sunset are a must do. We also enjoyed fantastic skiing for a day at Hakodate Snow Park which was easy to reach using our rail pass and free shuttle.

June is a nice quiet time to visit Hakodate for a short break as it seems to be outside the peak tourist season, so not many people and tourists around. Attractions were easily accessed.

People in general are friendly. If you like seafood, you should visit the Morning Market about 30 minutes away by street car! The best seafood I ever had!!!

Make sure to visit Goryokaku Tower for gorgeous views and yummy Hokkaido ice cream! If the weather is good, walking around the fort is lovely. Only a 10 minute drive from the hotel!

The seafood in Hakodate is amazing. I wished there was more fatty Maguro in the restaurants.
"Staying inside of a renovated bank building in the old downtown with a cool vibe and super high ceilings was fantastic. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was also great with good water pressure and hot water. The staff was super friendly and helpful - plus the hotel has bikes on site for rental which a great way to explore the area. You can also ride the streetcar to get from here to the 5-star bastion fortress park and other areas. The red brick warehouse tourist / shopping area is just a block away. The ropeway to get a view from the nearby mountain, and many interesting churches are also within easy walking distance. Highly recommended. Although the hotel shows a bit of minor scuffs in the rooms, it just provides character to an otherwise great choice."
"Parking was taken care of by personnel who reserve a spot on arrival and during our stay there. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and full of choices in a spacious dining hall. Room was value for money. Location was good as access to city was easy. Staff at hotel was very helpful."
