The County Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel was very busy with Sunday lunches when we arrived but every member of staff was very helpful, polite and keen to speak. We got a free upgrade and the room was gorgeous with a seating area and dual aspect. Sunday lunch was amazing and we would highly recommend it. We had drinks in the bar later which were very comfortable. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and all very good quality. We would definitely stay here again."

"We had the family room, it was extremely clean, as was the bathroom. Took us a while to find the thermostat, but the room warmed up very quickly once we had located it on the wall near the door (just looks like a silver square at 1st glance). Staff were all lovely. The food was really good, but wish there had been chicken on the menu. Breakfast was excellent too. The village is extremely quiet (what we wanted). We would stay again."
Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

"We had a lovely stay at Slaley Hall. The building, grounds and setting are beautiful. Our spacious room had a huge picture window overlooking the golf course, a large comfortable bed and good amenities. The complimentary minibar was a lovely touch. The food was excellent. Breakfast had a great range of cooked and continental choices and our evening meals were every bit as good, if not better. The bar staff were always friendly, smiling and chatty, despite the bar appearing understaffed at times. There were some housekeeping issues. The sofa was stained, the iron needed cleaning before use and glasses left in our room on day two hadn’t been cleaned properly, with lipstick still visible on one rim. Restaurant service was our main disappointment. On one occasion I waited while two staff continued discussing which tables they would serve before acknowledging me. On our final evening, around five staff were talking together while we waited to be seated. We could hear them discussing which guests had or hadn’t tipped, including guests who had experienced problems with their stays. This felt inappropriate and unprofessional. These issues didn’t spoil what was otherwise a really enjoyable stay. We’d happily return, but greater attention to housekeeping and restaurant service would make a very good stay an excellent one."

"We only had a one night stop over but the staff were very helpful and friendly, room was spotless, lovely setting , food was mostly great ( bacon for breakfast was a bit overdone but everything else was good) . Evening meal was very good. Would stay here again ."

"the room was very clean but very small with no drawers or wardrobe space, okay for 1 or 2 nights only. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was spot on and so was the bar with a good selection of beers."

"The manager was very friendly and helpful, thanks. The room was very clean, the bathroom was very clean too, a shame it was across the corridor. Our only complaint was the toilet was very unsteady!"

"Fabulous 4 day stay here . Lovely location , rooms very clean and comfortable. Ate all our meals here and every one was excellent. Breakfasts were great , plenty of choice . All the staff were so friendly and helpful . Special thanks to Marcelle and Jackie who couldn’t have done more ! We will definitely return"
