"Hervé was an extremely good host who made us feel welcome. Many thanks, Hervé. The property is well laid out and comfortable. We loved the hot tub and the proximity to Belgium. We hadn't planned to, but traveled there several times. It's a great base for traveling to sites relating to WW1,as well as cities such as Lille and Ghent, which are both well worth visiting. Overall, we would highly recommend it."

"Great communication from Julie from the very beginning of the booking process. The house is located on a canal with endless walking and running routes. Great local brasseries for dinner, Louvre Lens is 30 min away. Charlie our dog had an amazing time and is currently fast asleep and shattered. Can definitely recommend if you are looking for a location less than a hour from Calais"

"Un lieux de rêve que je recommande absolument. L'endroit est magique, les hotes formidables et les hôtes font tout pour nous faire partager leur amour du lieux, des animaux, de la nature... Le gite était impeccable ( le jacuzzi un délice pour un moment de détente dans mon weekend studieux). Je n'ai pas visité les autres gites mais je ne doute pas qu'ils soient aussi agréables que le petit gite. Tout est très bien organisé pour que l'on s'y sente bien. "The photos don’t do the house justice. It has lovely high ceilings, and has been finished to a really high standard. There is private parking behind a secure electric gate in the courtyard, can fit several cars. The house was clean and tidy, beds comfortable, and all amenities were there for almost any need. Abscon is a small rural town, but close to Lewarde mining heritage centre, 40 minutes from Lille, 1hr from Belgium (Ghent was worth a day trip), and easy reach of many of the WW1...
