"The property and communication were just fine upon arrival, however the one toilet in the property became unusable the first day as the flusher jammed so we had to book a hotel room that night not knowing if it would be fixed or an alternative solution would be available. Late in the evening they said they had a work around for flushing the toilet and it was fixed the next day but they offered no relief from the extra expense we had to make sure our family had a bathroom to use. On arrival, the oven and hob were visibly dirty with grease and residue, and the kitchen overall did not appear to have been properly cleaned. "The overall aspect of the property was misleading, the property wasn't of a standard that I would expect from a Vrbo property or any rental property, the cleanliness was far from acceptable, massive cobwebs in a few rooms, stains on carpets, rugs that we really a bad trip hazards, the one at the top of the stairs which we moved, sofa bed not fit for purpose, stains on bedding, dishwasher didn't clean properly, no welcome pack, lights in the small bedroom wasn't working, mold and grime build up...

"The staff are lovely. The room OK I didn't rate the bathroom the tiles had a lot of mold on and the cold tap on the bath was so difficult to turn off the door on the bathroom stopped at the toilet so you had to go in sideways. Even though I didn't rate the bathroom I would still stay at the hotel again just not that room. I did mention the bathroom on checkout ."

"Exceptionally enjoyable stay Although due to close for renovation in 2-3 weeks it retained its opulence and the bar and restaurant were superb The hotel is perfectly placed to explore Chester and access relatively inexpensive public transport to nearby places such as Port Sunlight and Liverpool which are short distances away Only down side was initial information about dress code in restaurant. It was way below what we were advised. We had no problem with that, but would have packed maybe 6-8 garments less between us Finally, and most important, given the up coming 2 year closure the staff there were absolutely magnificently helpful and friendly. Special mention to Jo (GI Jo), Kevin, Harriet and many others whose names I don’t have but definitely including the excellent sommelier"

"Nice centrally located hotel but not good if you want a relaxing stay specifically at weekend as its in an area of late bars playing music some of the bars playing live performances. It was quite noisy in the evenings but certainly in a brilliant central location with two options for multi storey car parking a short walk away."
