"The good:Property located between various attractions including Galena.Owner quickly responsive to texts when issues arose.Once cleaning issues resolved, property pleasant (see below).Modern laundry equipment, nice bathroom amenities, well water not bad to drink.Neighborhood great to walk around, lots of historic 1970's A-frame houses, some modified and some original. An architect nerd's dream. Also nice pond, scenery, etc.The bad:Upon arrival, home was not clean (dirty surfaces, laundry on floor from previous renter, used linen on bed, etc). Owner responded to text by sending cleaning crew. But then after saying he had no excuse, he blamed them for being too busy during summer to get to it. Cleaning crew was fast/efficient, we tipped them accordingly.Freezer in desperate need of defrosting, was nearly unusable.Listing claims deadbolt lock, however only lock was a loose sliding door.We don't blame owner for weather; we were there during 95 deg heat wave. But we couldn't open the upstairs bathroom window for cross breeze due to missing screen (bugs). Owner responded a) there was a screen last he checked, and b) make sure downstairs AC turned all the way cold. As if we were too stupid to see a non-existent screen or turn AC colder. Upstairs bedroom/bathroom remained 85 thru out visit.Owner always ended texts with asking for five stars. We can't give 5 stars for 4 star visit. Apologies. But we do appreciate refund of cleaning fee, thanks."
