"We were looking for a calm and quite respite, and this checked the boxes! Property and furniture were clean and comfortable. And despite the heat, we were able to spend time on the shaded deck. We found ourselves choosing to stay in and enjoy the river, adding a cold drink and a good book, and we were set. 10 out of 10! Its not often mentioned in reviews, but we appreciated that the rental fees charged were not exorbitant. Its a beautifully preserved historical landmark, and we appreciate that...

"Delicious breakfasts, beautiful balcony to sit and listen to the birds or enjoy looking at the stars, comfortable chairs lots of windows with pretty views - a perfect time. Very responsive and knowledgeable hostess. Would highly recommend."

"It was a nice stay for my first Mother’s Day weekend with my husband and 3 month old. It had everything we needed and some. The bath tub was glorious and the pool, hot tub, and game room was awesome additions. Plus the grill area and gym were also nice amenities to have if we wanted to use them.. It was not too far from Galena or Elisabeth, IL which was nice. We enjoyed our stay!"

"Liz and Shane were great! They gave multiple recommendations for food (Fried Green Tomatoes was delicious) and the recommendation for hiking delivered as well. The place had all the amenities we needed and then some!"

"Maquoketa caves state park was on pur bucket list to stay and I wanted a cabin with firepit and bonus if it had a whirlpool tub to soothe our muscles after hiking. This checked all the boxes for us. We especially liked that there were 2 beds...one felt more firm and the other more soft like ours at home. We were entirely comfortable. Would definitely recommend!"

"Very clean and spacious apartment in the center of downtown Elizabeth. Wr had a lovely time The only challenge was intermittent internet access which made streaming movies/tv and phone usage a challenge. Recommended if you want to unplug!"

Had never been to sabula before but had a very relaxing time wandering around the island and visiting the nearby towns. Highly recommend staying at the pearl. Ice cream shop, small diner, and river front bar all within a block of the property."
