"We chose this hotel for Mexican Independence Day with a window overlooking the Zocalo. What we were given was a view over an alley. There is no front desk [or front entrance] at this property. We had to ask locals on the street. The speakeasy entrance to Casa Mexico is located between Av. 5 de Mayo and Av. Francisco I Madero to the left of McDonald's on C. de Monte de Piedad in front of the Zocalo. The entrance is through a jewelry store. The building signage says Centro de Joyero de Mexico....

Ride shares are very reasonable for places further than you might want to walk. My friend and I traveled together and the two rooms were far enough from each other that we had our own space to unwind after a full day of exploring."
