"I was nearly in tears when we arrived here, so beautiful and peaceful is this amazing place! It's called "Solitude"--I'd call it "Serenity." A deep breath of the pristine forest air, and we stepped inside to discover the lovely, peaceful (yes, again) surroundings, all well-planned, thought-out, and arranged. There are so many windows, the outside is truly brought inside...and what could be better than a hot tub on the front porch, right outside the bedroom?! The kitchen is well-equipped, lighting is abundant, the shower expansive, front porch welcoming, screened porch a sweet hide-away, and there's even a grill and a chair on the small "back porch." Truly, we couldn't have been happier-or so joyfully removed from the rest of the world. If you're looking for a beautiful, comfortable escape, this is it! I must also add that, if you'd like a fine dining experience, be sure to make a reservation and go to The Chop House, in Luray. It's elegant, with superb food and service (and you can go pretty casually-folks come in after hiking)! Also, a fellow diner at The Gathering Grounds, also in Luray (great brunch!), suggested Shenandoah Caverns, rather than Luray Caverns, and we loved it. Finally, we had a very good dinner at The Speakeasy in Minslyn Hotel, a most beautiful, old place. Our only objection was loud, raucous music from a speaker nearby. And, of course, traveling the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah Nat'l Park on our return to eastern VA. What a fabulous experience, all-around!"
