"We booked The Relais Cooden beach via Expedia particularly for its location and spa facilities. We had booked the "Cosy double room" because that was all that was left. On arrival we tried to book spa treatments but there were no available bookings during our three night stay. This was disappointing as there was no mention on the Expedia website that you needed to book in advance. Apparently, guests who booked directly with the hotel enjoyed free use of the spa whereas booking through Expedia...

"Very comfortable one night stay precruise. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast next morning had a nice selection of hot and cold food. Staff were very friendly also. Only a 10 minute walk to gate 8, easy with a carry on and personal bag. I would stay there again if ever in Southampton."

There was a brick wall outside my window and only two of the windows would open a maximum of 3 inches. The bathroom window did not open and the fan was not working. It was wretched in the heat. You have to have the light on to see even in daylight. I was given a very basic fan . I asked to change my room the next day. "Staff make the hotel. Had a bath tub toilet combo. Bath was extremely clean. Really pleased as thats how I judge cleanliness. Carpet in the room could have been vacummed more but bed clean, white sheets comfy, not even one stain. Impressed. Asked for a particular room my child is SEN, that was also given with no hassle (obviously within the price range booked). Really happy, kind staff especially room service the staff who delivered breakfast to room 248 on the 26 May. Its our second time...

"Rooms were spacious, modern and clean. We didn’t use the spa due to only staying one night and the extra charge as booked through Expedia but if book direct, it’s included. Breakfast was £16.95 and worth it. Great choice. Lovely outdoor seating area. Beds comfy. Bathrooms good. Quiet location. All was good."
