"Staff are very friendly, and the location is perfect - right on Waikiki beach, 10minutes walk from the shopping district, a great restaurant (Lulus) 2 minutes walk, and an Avis car rental on site with the hotel offering valet.
But the property is tired. Bathroom looked worn, with caulk needing replaced, room door showing broken laminate around the security latch area, and the furniture showing scuffs and dings. Worst issue was the elevators. 6 of them, but only 2 go to the ground floor (reception is on the 2nd). And when we were there I only ever saw one of the two that goes to the ground floor working. The valet staff even recommended taking the escalator to reception - not just to check in but to get back to your room and avoid the lobby bottleneck. And the list system is one where you enter the desired floor on a central console and the system tells you which lift to take - they are pre programmed. But either the algorithm is off or something else was wrong because waits for a lift could take 10 minutes in busy periods like first thing in the morning or early evening. On one occasion the central console even helpfully suggested "try again later"! Elevator lobby at that point jammed with thirty people or so trying to get back to their rooms.
Its a great location with lovely people, but despite the price dont expect a 4 star hotel experience in terms of infrastructure. If they would refurb the rooms and fix the lifts would be perfect. "
