"Friendly staff, great location and amazing ocean views. Food quality is not as expected. The hotel shows it's age, rusting and paint peeling off are almost everywhere. Overall it's a great experience, and I believe this hotel is great for budget Cancun first timers."

"IT WAS AMAZING. My boyfriend and I went for our very first couples trip and it was also my birthday. I got gifted a bottle of tequila by the resort, there was decorations in my room with a balloon and some towels in the form of a cake. They were absolutely amazing. The entertainment team was an ab 10/10 The food was pretty good at the buffet. We loved the options so much that we didn’t even try the themed restaurants. The staff were kind and caring. They were always smiling and very welcoming. Oscar from the entertainment team was an absolute joy to be around. I loved every bit of my vacation it was PERFECT. The resort was beautiful the beach was beautiful the pools were beautiful and there were so many fun activities lined up by the resort. THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO BOOK IT GIRL!"

"Aesthetic wise the property looks nice… rooms though, they need to be updated. The mini fridge are set too high but keep the drinks just barely cold.. phones don’t work in the rooms and we had a 2x2 room (connected rooms) but the conjoining doors wouldn’t open so it felt like if I left my kids in a different room.. and Check In was too long"

"We had an excellent stay at Occidental and would definitely return. The property is beautiful, very well maintained, and surrounded by amazing scenery. The staff was friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with anything we needed. Our room was clean, comfortable, and serviced daily. The food offered plenty of variety, and we always found something we enjoyed. The pools were great, the drinks were consistently good, and there were activities throughout the day for both adults and kids. One of our favorite parts was simply walking around the resort and enjoying the atmosphere. The location was fantastic, and the overall value for an all-inclusive vacation was hard to beat. If you’re looking for a family-friendly resort with beautiful grounds, good food, and excellent service, Occidental is a great choice. We made a lot of great memories and are already talking about coming back."

"The property itself is very modern and kept very clean. Our butler messaged us every day with activities, exercise and arranged our reservations for dinner each night which was super helpful. We had serenity club access which was great for a quieter pool and restaurant access. There were also some fun shows and music at night. The hibachi is 5 stars +, our chef was so fun and the food was amazing. The only restaurant we were disappointed in was the Mexican steakhouse, but we are spoiled when it comes to great steaks and how to prepare them. Overall the food and drink selection was great. The beach is well maintained but not having the crystal blue water to look out at was disappointing for sure. I would highly advise travelers to be careful on the wet floors throughout the hotel and especially the balconies. On the 3rd day of our vacation I returned to our room to prepare getting ready for our dinner and slipped on the balcony from all the rain that had come in from an afternoon storm. The drains on the balcony aren't properly placed so not all the water drains as it should and all flooring is very slippery when wet. Unfortunately 6 stitches, a mild concussion and 4 hours later of being in a Mexico ER/Medical Clinic along with a hefty bill, we returned to the resort. I would never want this to happen to someone else, especially someone elderly that might not recover the same. Other than that we did enjoy our room, our view, the food and the service."

"When going to dinner high pressure upselling of bottles of wine.I didn’t like that the balcony was not private there was a barrier between them but you could see the other people on their balcony. The room was ok the toilet area is not private it has glass walls everything echoed in the bathroom. The room service food was not fresh the fruit seemed to be sitting out long blueberries had mold. The potatoes were stale. I did get engaged here and the staff was very nice and helpful with the proposal of course my fiancé bought a bottle of wine seems they are nicest when you spend more money."
