"The hotel was beautiful, rooms lovely and clean! The swimming pool and spa facilities, steam room were very good and very relaxing! The food at the FYR restaurant on site was lovely and reasonably priced aswell. The only cons I would say is that the drinks at the bar and and the pool are very expensive, considering the amount you are spending on everything else, in my opinion they don’t need to be that expensive. Overall had a very relaxing weekend, and I would return."

"This is a lovely hotel, well located for stunning views of the landscape. Our room was well decorated, and had a lovely bathroom with a walk in shower. The walls were pretty thin, we could hear people in the neighbouring rooms around us. The bed was really comfortable, excellent Wi-fi and a smart TV on the wall was perfect. We had an evening meal which was served in a cozy room with an open fire, I can still taste the lovely Borders Beef. Breakfast was similarly great, and meant that overall we had a great stay. "

"Lovely owners. Made to feel very welcome. It’s an ideal location for exploring the area - 2 pubs in village , a 15 minute walk away ( only serving food from Thursday - Sunday ) It was a perfect place come back to after a days outing to relax in the small courtyard. Got lucky with good weather and grateful we brought our own loungers to sit out on. Interior - very comfortable bed, felt it was all very clean and had everything we needed. Bottle of wine and shortbread was a nice touch ! However it is very dated from decor to tableware - guess though some would say that adds to the charm , I did feel we had stepped back in ! .. Maybe an outdoor fire pit and more seating for those summer evenings should you want to sit out like we had . But overall would recommend as a “get away from it all “ holiday home !"

"I recently stayed at this lovely cottage located in the village Melmerby with my puppy. The cottage was very well-equipped and comfortable - I really liked everything about it. The only downside was that the lights in the living room were a bit too bright; a dimmer switch or some additional lamps would make it cosier for the evenings. We enjoyed day trips out, and in the village, we had a lovely meal at the pub, though it’s closed from Monday through Wednesday, which might impact other visitors. Note that the front garden is open, so our dog had to stay on a lead. Overall, a great stay!"

"When we arrived the house hadn’t been cleaned in change over, the beds all needed changing, the bins were full, needed hoovering etc etc was a real disappointment and really inconvenient. We managed to call an emergency contact who told us the cleaner was off sick! We changed the bedding ourselves and the bins etc No welcoming biscuits or milk etc infact the coffee in the pot was rock solid. Really wasn’t a great welcome. The house is lovely but the photos are deceiving they make the rooms look bigger than they are, the living room was fairly small especially for a family with a dog. Lots about the house was worn and needed an update, there was lamps that had been sellotaped together! We love the area and we loved the log burner but apart from that we wouldn’t stand here again. "

"Property was very clean and a lovely welcome of home made soda bread and ginger cake, was a treat.We found the stairs a little difficult at times, but all rooms were beautiful, characterful and homely.Shame we couldn’t use the TV due to lack of wifi but we appreciate the area has problems with signals.We would have liked some egg cups but overall it was a well stocked kitchen.Thank you for a wonderful stay."

"The property is wonderful and the garden and hot tub are great. Far more freedom than a hotel room or holiday inn .the local pub serves amazing food with a friendly atmosphere. Really pleased we booked it. "

"A simply fantastic cottage. Kitted out with everything you need, comfortable and welcoming - we have found our ideal base for visiting family so will be back. The pub nearby does lovely food and our springer loved the walks from the door step."

"Nicely appointed cottage that had everything you could need.Plenty of internal space, outside rooftop patio and hidden garden area.No wifi signal, and poor mobile phone signal added to the seclusion - away from the real world. Very rural, transport necessary to get anywhere."
