"It was an amazing experience to be in a real castle we chose a cheaper room so we didn’t have an en-suite but a beautiful bathroom in the corridor instead. The owners were so helpful and friendly and we had a very good quality evening meal with beautiful romantic piano music played by the manager and a history talk too. The owner was a beautiful lady who chatted to us in the bar area. We’d like to go again. Breakfast was good."

"This is the third time we have stayed here on our way to visit family in Scotland. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. The room is spotless and the beds very comfortable. The food and service in the hotel is excellent. We would highly recommend staying at the Westmoreland."

"We stayed over a weekend with a group of friends. The hotel was efficient and staff very friendly. We had an excellent large room, lots of space for our kit. The breakfast, whilst being a buffet style, offered many fresh options and was very tasty. We had an evening meal, again this was excellent too. Well done."

"We were thankful we could book this stay after 6pm online and get into our room soon after I did have a similar experience as another reviewer who said the manager had a card machine promt for me to pay I told him we had payed via hotels.com and after checking he apologized I asked to borrow an iron and was told they don't have one as they were new owners/managers So take your own if you can Nice pint and open fire in there It seems most punters know one another well and we did feel a little out of ace but it wasn't a problem really The room was small and we did have issue with old water system making a horrendous noise every time the toilet flushes (and in the next room) I would stay again if caught short but otherwise I'd probably stay elsewhere Sorry"

"We had a wedding to attend and the staff were so helpful in allowing us to check in early so we could get dressed and leave bags in our room. Rooms were clean and had everything you needed, air con was perfect and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was also lovely - would happily stay here again next time we visit Penrith. Thank you!"
