"Kenji was a very nice host and his "guest house English" speaking was wonderful!! It is a perfect location if you are looking to wake up early and walk to the bamboo forest, you can be one of the first people there. Kenji also gave us recommendations of places to visit in the area that you otherwise may not have known about. "

"A great ryokan with very friendly staff. The Japanese breakfast was the best we had in Japan! Our room was nice, clean, and had an amazing view. Great location! "
"This property is very cheap for the size and quality of the room. There was some questionable stains on the couch but besides that everything else was rather clean for the nature of the hotel"

"First time in Kyoto and we had the best time in this traditional feeling Japanese ryoken. Staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. Their restaurant was traditional, inexpensive and very yummy. No complaints at all, would go back!!! Immaculate gardens around the property, good coffee shop on the parking lots, convenience store close by, close to a major bus route. Absolutely breathtaking neighborhood."

"A great hotel. It is modern, comfortable, clean, quiet, and in a great location. The service is among the best we have had anywhere, better than hotels that cost twice as much. Every member of the staff that we encountered was amazing. The restaurant and restaurant staff is also terrific. "

"Probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at in Japan. The room we got was bigger than the ones we got at Shinjuku and Osaka. Bathroom is massive as well and gave us enough room space for two people with two luggage’s. The place has a public bath available and we were informed that guests with tattoos were allowed to use it which was fantastic. Family mart is right downstairs and is able to be accessed by the hotel side so you don’t have to walk out. New amenities and room was cleaned every day. Also, very close to the station. The aquarium as well is nearby which can be a fun day activity for people. Personally, it did feel kind of far from everything in Kyoto but if guests are too tired to go anywhere else after exploring Kyoto, the Family Mart has many options available for food. Very satisfied with our stay and will book with this chain again in the future. "
"The rooms were big and comfy, the onsen was also really relaxing. My only concern was there was no ice bath to cool off in but other than that it was very nice. They offer free ice pops as well which was amazing. The massage chairs however were always occupied so we didn't get to use them. The pillows and mattress are also very firm but surprisingly we would wake up with no back pain. In terms of closeness, it's about a 5 minute walk from Kyoto station. We really enjoyed our stay here regardless"
"I had no idea what I was getting into. This is a super cool hotel if you want a true Japanese Onsen experience. You start with taking your shoes off and doning either pajamas they provide or your pick of Kimonos ( not sure if what men wear are Kimonos but nonetheless) which they also have for you. Then you head off to either a private bath ( pick the third or the 5th one if you want to be outside)or the public bath ( split for men and women). After bathing you can get a massage, have a traditional dinner or change and walk into town and see the Bamboo forest, temple, take a river boat ride or shop and eat. Plenty to do. It is on the one side of the City and the Golden Temple and the big food market is on the opposite side. To go to the Golden Temple requires you take the train that is across the street 3 stops, transfer and work your way into the opposite side of the city. Assume its an hour if you time all the trains right.
Overall, it was an awesome experience!"
"Not pretty from the outside, but inside it is great. Clean, modern. Excellent breakfast. Good location in a quiet area. Short walk to Arashiyama train station, monkey park, and bridge. Free bikes are a great perk! Staff is friendly and helpful. "
"Perfect contrast from the bustle of Tokyo and Osaka! But, this also means not much is open close by so need to walk a bit for dinner. Phone said we got almost 30k steps after wandering the bamboo forest, monkey park, temples, etc. "
