"We really loved everything about the house. The views were absolutely amazing and the pool was the largest of any house we have rented. Any questions we had were answered immediatly. One very pleasant surprise was a welcome dinner and breakfast by a private chef at the house, both meals were amazing. Be aware Playa Negra is not Tamarindo meaning it is pretty remote. We went there for that reason.... super chill. Just dont expect a long list of restaurant or shopping options nearby."

"Warm, friendly staff and beautifully landscaped layout with multiple structures around a central pool and open-air restaurant and bar. We enjoyed swimming daily, dining at the restaurant multiple nights and walking down the hill to the beach that was quiet and perfect for us. If we are ever in this area again, we would return here because of the excellent service. If you end up staying elsewhere in the area, we noticed many couples came up just to enjoy the restaurant also. "

"Coco Flotante is an iconic and idyllic beach house that made touchstone memories for my family of 5. The house itself is very large and has great indoor and outdoor spaces to spend time as a group or alone. Big, covered patios with dining and lounging areas, all with views, a huge kitchen and bedroom suites all with AC.The house caretakers and manager are friendly if you want to engage or have a request, and otherwise just make sure everything is good. During our stay, they cleaned the house and pool daily and helped with our needs and questions. Georgina helped us get to a turtle release at the beach that was unforgettable.The views from the house and property are incredible, across the Pacific, up the coast, and with no other people or houses in sight. Coconut trees, lawn, flowers, and the pool are beautiful. The beach is down a staircase, accessible and providing privacy.The beach itself has both sand and tide pools. We were able to walk down the beach to the end of Junquillal and back, a little under 3.5 miles (5.5 km). The closest store was fine for our needs, but lacking in much fresh produce. Plenty of other options within a short drive and also restaurants you can walk or drive to.Wildlife was a nice surprise for us. We saw iguanas, colorful birds, hermit crabs rolling in their shells down toward the beach, and Howler monkeys (Congos) walking through the trees in the evening."

"This was absolutely my favorite. I can’t wait to bring my boys. The casita was like a tiki hut. The grounds were tropical jungle and the staffs were warm and welcoming. I have nothing negative about this hotel."

"This was easily one of the best stays we’ve ever had. Café Playa Negra is everything a boutique hotel should be—warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully run. We were greeted like family and offered lime slush drinks that were pure bliss. Our room was spotless and beautiful, the meals were delicious, and the pool was a perfect escape. Nixon was amazing—so kind and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly. This place has heart. And by staying here, you’re supporting the real people of Playa Negra—not just a vacation rental owned by investors. We felt good knowing our visit made a positive impact. We’ll definitely be back."

"Agree with most of the previous reviews but would like to add a couple things we did. We had a family of ten 6 adults, 4 teenage kids. Working with Mary Diekers, the rental property manager, we employed a ten person van and driver to pick us up at the airport. Turns out he was also an excellent daily tour guide, setting up and driving us to zip line, ATV, horse back riding, and river cruise activities. His name is Jeffery Guevara, very friendly, speaks fluent English, and was knowledgable on everything Costa Rican. We also selected to have evening chefs cook dinner for us on three occasions. This was especially helpful after returning from a busy day of activities. Highly recommend Chefs Garrett Hurley and his wife. Their food preparation was incredible, much better than any restaurant. We also rented an SUV at the airport as kind of a back up. As stated by others the property is realatively isolated with bummpy dirt roads in and out. "

"Casa Loca was perfect for our family. Our three adult children and their spouses and our grandchildren (ages 3 and 1) joined us for a fabulous week during the “rainy season” (we only had rain at night! ). The house is very spacious and comfortable with many areas to sit and enjoy watching the surf of Playa Negra. Our grandkids loved the playing pool. We enjoyed walking down to Playa Negra and also Playa Avellanas, a short drive away, and also home of Lola’s, great beachside restaurant. We made day trips to Rincon de la Vieja and Diamante Eco Adventure Park. We had a wonderful stay thanks to Meaghan and Jarrod!"
