This was not the case and the hotel has gone through a full renovation to have a pleasant cafe at the lobby to clean and modern decor in the rooms. Thoughtful touches throughout from the amenities to storage of your items. The location was a perfect base for my wife and I to explore Madrid by foot. Right off Gran Via and walkable to most of the major sights. "

"Staff were friendly and accomodating. The area was safe for family with kids. Metro station and bus stop is across the entrance of the hotel. It is right in front of plaza de españa. A lot of restaurants and stores for food options and daily necessities. Breakfast is very good with a lot of options, I especially liked the omelette station. We are actually going back here to stay for the last leg of our Spain vacation. The airport is about 20mins away for travel information."
