"OK, it was a little rough around the edges, but the room was spacious, there were plenty of towels, the shower was hot and it had a certain rustic charm both inside and out. Check in was relatively smooth for us [we had printed the booking confirmation], and breakfast was fine [we filled in a form at time of check-in to say what we wanted and at what time, so everything was already clear when we sat down in the breakfast room the next morning. The most important thing for us was that it was close to the Thames Path, and half way between Oxford and Goring, making it the perfect stop on a two day walk between those points. The pub just over the bridge - The Barley Mow - was excellent for dinner, and there's a village shop on the way to the pub selling everything you might need - also open quite early if you need to replenish your snacks and drinks for the next stage."

"The Railway Inn is a small hotel, over a pub that closes reasonably early and literally next to the train lines. The barkeep is also the hotel staff and the breakfast cook. She is terrific and lively. My room was on the second floor - spacious with two excellent twin beds, comfortable bedding and kettle, cookies, etc. They would like entry by 22.00 which I did not see in the ad, so I arrived later and she directed me to reach my room, which she had left open. The breakfast is cooked to order and both tasty and generous. Expedia say 6 miles from Oxford city centre. Close to 20 miles... but otherwise an excellent place to stay overnight."
